If you get a clicking sound, then it is either your starter solenoid or the battery is low. If you simply get nothing, then it is wiring. Use jumper cables and and jump from an external battery. Go "-" to frame and "+" to the battery side of the solenoid. Push the starter button. It should click and send power to the starter. If it doesn't click then the problem lies with the wiring between the solenoid and starter button, or the solenoid itself. If the solenoid did click but the motor didn't turn over, put your "+" jumper cable directly on the starter motor's external contact. If the motor turns over, your problem is your solenoid. If the starter motor refuses to turn over, then your problem is the starter motor.

I have a 2015 polaris ranger mid size 4x4 electronic start. The engine turns over, the fuel pump seems to put out a good stream, but there is no fire. Are there some simple tests I can try? Walt

Make sure your rig is in neutral. Some types cut the plug power others cut all power. It does sound like a blown coil pack . If it was hard to start or ran rough when going this is an indicator but not always the case.

2009 Ranger 500efi. I changed starter and starter Bendix. It's like something not releasing after it starts, I shut it of and it still turns over. Sometimes after it starts it's got a odd noise

Turn over is the process that an engine makes when it is trying to start. If you twist the key and get nothing then it wont turn over. Google shimming a starter and watch the vids.

Yamaha Grizzly 03-660. Why doesn't it start?

If you look at the picture - 29, 30 & 31 are the starter relay, main fuse and probably the bolt that holds it to the frame. When that fuse blows or that relay goes out - it's over. Not going to start. If you have a standard test light - attach the clip end to ground (frame of atv) and then put touch the postivie post of the battery to verify that the light is functional. It will light up if the battery is good. Next -follow the red cable to the starter relay in the diagram. Where it attaches - check for power. With the key off. IT should be live without the key in. It's on standby in a way. If you do not have power at the other end of your positive cable - your cable is shot. If you do - then you will have someone turn the key and check to see if power is coming from the other post off the relay (that would go to the starter and make it engage - if the square standard fuse in that relay is not blown - but power is not coming through when you touch the key - it's probably the relay. Your safety switch among other things can prevent the engine from starting as well - along with loose cables and grounds (always do a thorough check of all wire connections and grounds - one loose ground can mean a nightmare sometimes) - if you give that a try and do not identify the culprit - just comment or reach out and I'll take you through the next steps. The fan comes on immediately when the ignition is turned on, so I know it is not hot. What is likely the culprit?

To try to disconnect the plug of the temperature sensoron the engine block and turn the start. If the fans topped working, then the problem is in the temperature sensor

My polaris sportsman 570 will not start when I put the key and I have power to the lights on the dash but the engine will not turn over. I did turn it off in gear accidently.

If engine does not turn over you need to see if the starter is getting power and if it is any good. Also look for an inline safety switch for the starter that may be stuck in the open position and not allowing the electricity to enter the starter motor.

Why does my Sportsman 400 start by the pull cord, but will not start with the ignition. It turns over fine.

replace the battery as there is not enough charge to start and provide power for the ignition

Kinroad cyclone 800? I think

I would follow lines coming out from the gas tank to see one that goes to carburetor . I would try to blow mild force air into that line and see, with tank cap off, bubbles come out from tank;then try starting it and if it runs a little longer then I imagine something is clogging the flow. Hope suggestion helps.
