Question about RTO 200cc Full Size Four Wheeler ATV

Not starting with electric starter, battery is new, and replaced relay. starter does nothing. neutral light does come on.

Starter does nothing, battery is new and I replaced the starter relay. the neutral light does come on, relay clicks.

Did you try pushing in brake are clutch? and have you checked to make sure fuses are not blown.

Wit the info you have provided, it might be the ignition switch..- not letting the engine start while jumping the solenoid.. no neutral light.all fuses good,,etc...
Take the switch off and take it to the dealer and have them check it electrically...

Yamaha Grizzly 03-660. Why doesn't it start?

If you look at the picture - 29, 30 & 31 are the starter relay, main fuse and probably the bolt that holds it to the frame. When that fuse blows or that relay goes out - it's over. Not going to start. If you have a standard test light - attach the clip end to ground (frame of atv) and then put touch the postivie post of the battery to verify that the light is functional. It will light up if the battery is good. Next -follow the red cable to the starter relay in the diagram. Where it attaches - check for power. With the key off. IT should be live without the key in. It's on standby in a way. If you do not have power at the other end of your positive cable - your cable is shot. If you do - then you will have someone turn the key and check to see if power is coming from the other post off the relay (that would go to the starter and make it engage - if the square standard fuse in that relay is not blown - but power is not coming through when you touch the key - it's probably the relay. Your safety switch among other things can prevent the engine from starting as well - along with loose cables and grounds (always do a thorough check of all wire connections and grounds - one loose ground can mean a nightmare sometimes) - if you give that a try and do not identify the culprit - just comment or reach out and I'll take you through the next steps. After replacing battery,extra installed lights come on,but turn of ignition switch ,nothing.

You may have blown the main fuse for the starter relay. Easy to do. If you follow the red positive battery cable to the starter relay (most models) you'll find the starter relay at the other end. There should be a fuse in the relay or in a panel on the atv. Same type square standard sized boxed fuses car use. Best place to start. If you comment or answer with your year, make, model and engine size I can provide a better answer.

**FYI - that's a pretty standard starter relay. That's for a Yamaha Bear Tracker - two fuses - one is the main and the other is a spare that you can pull out and use. When the fuse blows no power. - With your lights - they will still work if attached directly to battery. Relay won't if fuse is blown.

29, 30 & 31 are the starter relay for the model this diagram goes to. Usually the relay is going to be close to the battery, by the way.

First check the positive cable at battery and at the starter relay that the positive wire usually goes to. Somewhere right around there should be a fuse - that fuse goes out and your ignition system is kaput - pull start or nothing. If nothing at all happens - more than likely your fuse or what...yamaha had them on a lot of the 90s - 00s bikes - it was called a starter cut-off relay - it was a small black box wired in right by the postive cable where it goes to starter relay. Also check your ground cable at battery and where it goes to engine, usually. if all that checks out - let me know your year, make & model and if I have the tech info I can tell you where to start and how to troubleshoot - all the best

I got a sportsman Polaris 500 its a 97 ok I got a solenoid and it a universal atv/utv I got fire everywhere except my starter coming from solenoid

Make sure you have at least 12.5v at the battery. Then make sure you are getting the same voltage at the solenoid. You should at least hear a click. If you are getting voltage at the solenoid put your test leads so that you can test for voltage on the wire going to the starter. Make sure your other lead is grounded at the batt. Turn key in, in neutral as if you are going to start and push the start button. You should get a voltage reading. If nothing it is your starter solenoid/relay or button. If you do get voltage time to pull that starter!

ELECTRICAL STARTING PROBLEM

Make sure kill switch is on, put in neutral, press brake, it then should start. If is doesn't check battery, it battery is good check starter solenoid, then starter.

No panel lights

the solenoid for the ignition and starter has failed. Also remember the brake has to be applied to activate the starter system.

2004 yamaha kodiak 400, ran great, now it won't start the next day. kill switch was left on. slid it over, turned it on like i usually do to start it, nothing but a red light (temp ?). it was very cold...

hey Tammy... does the neutral light come on??? if not... find neutral..see what happens.. next.. have your batteries CCA checked.. (Cold Cranking Amps)...the amperage is what makes the starter work..NOT voltage...you can take it to Oreilly's, autozone, batteries and bulbs, or your local battery store...
