Right before you stored when you added the fuel stabilizer did you have fresh gas and did you run the engine with the fuel stabilizer in for 5 to 10 minutes

Testimonial: "Yes on both accounts...fresh fuel and operated prior to storage."

2004 Yamaha Kodiak 400 ATV. It does not start. The starter clicks like a car battery does when battery is drained. A new battery lasted only a month or so.

Get a battery tender to put on the battery when you aren't using it to keep it fully charged. Check battery connections and grounds.

Check the starter relay plus the starter and solenoid.

Call an auto electrician. The videos may help diagnosis.

What is the best way to winterize mule stored in a garage

There's a drain screw on the bowl of the carburetor - either run the gas out - or turn the valve to off and drain the gas in the carburetor. I also take the spark plug out and spray on top of the cylinder and all around - anything metal. GETSOME is a product out of Florida that actually works. Disconnect the battery and hook the battery up to a 2amp tender/not charger - you'll need the battery tender that keeps the voltage correct but doesn't over charge - reverse when the seasons change and you should be good to go -

My sons buggy won't run it coughs and splutters but won't actually run it is a Chinese thing 125 four stroke

Sounds like it may need some carburetor work. If you've stored it without any fuel stabilizer added, mixed well, and ran through the carburetor a little, even for as little as 30 days, the fuel can break down and leave deposits on the small mixture jets inside. Spraying some carb cleaner while starting and running will sometimes loosen up those deposits, but more often than not the carb will need to be taken apart and cleaned.

2009 Yamaha 400 coughs intermittently on starting and running. Runs better when engine warm.

These are all symptoms of a lean condition. Most likely cause is dirty carburator passages and jets. This could be from sitting up for a long period of time causing a build up of gum and varnish or it could be a gradual thing if unit sits for shorter periods between uses(4-6 weeks). The ethenol content in todays gasoline is such that each time the carb dries out in those short periods of inactivity it leaves a corrosive buildup in the carb. Over time this can cause clogging to the extent of a running problem such as you have. Im afraid a thorough fuel system(tank to carb) flushing-cleaning- adjusting is in order.
