1st - Most Vista era computers are probably 32 bit 2nd - 32 bit software DOES run on 64 bit systems 3nd - CD is 700MB and it is simple to upload the ISO to your google drive and provide a link to the file so it can be downloaded. 4th - if there are special drivers, THEN it may not run on Vista if the drivers do not support it, and drivers were a problem with Vista.

"505" indicates a motor error, meaning that a motor in the carousel is unable to turn. There are two motors in the carousel: one moves the disk carrier and the other moves the eject arm.

Check that it is listed in devices. Then check properties to see if it gives you a code you can search for using your browser. If you cannot find an answer, check the USB cable to carousel and to USB. Then, check out different USB ports. Then check that the door is still free and not jammed. Then unplug and re-plug from electrical source. These can be done in any order you choose, but i would check in device manger first.

You should really check these things first or consult the motherboard documentation which lists in great detail what the board supports

And to answer your problem , no you cant have a quad core

your specification says

It would say "Intel Core 2 Quad" if you could

Try powering it up and it will probably either:-

a)Overheat
b)Spark and set on fire if theres not enough cooling
c) Cause a power cut , Quad cores take more power than the boards designed to support , otherwise they would have said i t supported quad cores.
d)Fry up the motherboard , making it useless
e)Fry up the processor , making it useless
f) all of the above

Ok, try connecting just one thing at a time - start of with just your board and the power supply... still smell burning? There's probably an issue with the power supply - no fans & leds would indicate this too (can you hear anything when you power up?)

What cooling have you been using - weird quetion, but is there any chance there could be moisture on the board? (either from water cooling or from condensation in the room)
