click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow? ! question exclamation mark or red X this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver,disable,uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options you can troubleshoot hope this helps

If you look in the manual, you will see the code to place the scanner in to "stand" mode which should do as you request. This mode is restricted to certain models however. Near as I can tell, there are a few variants of the Z-3051HS model that support this. Reference the manual at the link below. Please update this with any other questions you may have.

To enable your device to be able to scan both 10 digit and 13 digit ISBNs you have to re adjust the settings. The link below will direct you to where you can download a manual which will help you change the settings.

Normally, these scanners need no software, as they simply send a series of digits to the active text box. Try opening notepad or word and scanning any barcode. It should type the number itself.

This device needs no software. You first need to set it up with the configuration card (http://www.zebex.com/old_website/documents/quick_program_card/z-3000.3001.3010/Programming%20Card_U_090202.pdf). Then it should scan the barcode number in to the selected text area.

Hello Suzanne. The problem you are going to find here is that Zebex doesn't make this model anymore and haven't for some time. If the unit has power and emits a beam, I have the Zebex generic Programming Card and Programming Guide available on my company's website. Have a look at the sections that include the "reset default" barcodes. Print out that page and try scanning them with your scanner. Resetting the scanner to it's default programming may get everything ironed out. If the scanner doesn't have power or emit a beam, then unfortunately you will be looking at getting a replacement scanner. I can recommend several different scanners what would work fantastically and be quite cheap. If you still need help, please feel free send a message or email me. I hope this helps. Good luck!

If you have the install disk for the device just pop it in that computer and run it and it should work.

if brought from retailier it should be all ready done

1. Select trailer you are going to program by scanning the
corresponding label
2. Scan the character(s) you want from the Programming Guide ASCII table to set as trailer (be sure to enable full ASCII code 39 option before you start). <CR> & <Ente>r are ASCII [$M] and Code 39 [0D]
3. Read the "save setting to confirm” label to confirm your choice into memory.
