I think I need drivers for my Win 7 64bit P.C to operate the unit as I cannot see when plug in via USB

The drivers, made for older windows versions, won't work on a Windows 7 or Windows 8. Not even in compatibility mode. Microsoft needed to make Windows more secure, so only allows drivers in there modern operating systems when they have a Microsoft certificate. For a certificate the manufactures must use Microsoft protocols, ask Microsoft for certification, and pay for the tests Microsoft does, to check the software is working correct. So no manufacturer will ask for certification of drivers for hardware they no longer sell. Long story, but unless you can write your driver yourself, or you can find an universal device driver (not sure something like that exists) you won't be able to use the device. I saw some dodgy sites trying to offer drivers. Be aware all drivers you can install in windows 7 or 8, you can get them from Microsoft. The ones you could use on an XP computer can't be used, because Windows 7 or 8 won't let you install them. Just for security reasons. When your device is sold with compatible with Windows x and it is lower version then the one you use, most likely you can't find driver for your device for the modern Windows. Almost no manufacturer will offer drivers for hardware they no longer sell.

Will this product work with Win 7?

The system requirements for this unit are xp, vista.
Just so you know. Now if you have version 7600 of windows 7,

I would say yes it should work, but I put the requirements so you know.

I have not had anything not work with 7600, I have run XP requirements
in windows 7. 7600.

It would be best if you purchased this from a place you could return it.

Not because of windows, but who knows what kinds of errors you have created in the registry and it might not work because of other reasons.

I'm not trying to knock you, but I come across tons of problems that are because people can't run windows and create all kinds of problems but blame windows.

Windows is garbage, but usually made worse by its owners.

I touch the power button by accident all the time

You can't do that, the reaction is instantaneous. But you can change the behaviour of the button to put it on something less damaging as a restart. Follow this

and change it to Switch user.

I have plugged in the

Yes, the speakers must be connected to the device. Your speakers use an older color code for connections. The black plug from your speakers goes in the green socket on the device. There may be a black socket on the device, but due to the color changes, black now indicates a surround speaker connection, not the main speaker connection. I would guess, not seeing your speakers, that the tan plug is either for a microphone, or more likely, is how you connect the left speaker to the right one.
