How can I turn off subtitles on TCL have tried everything including factory reset
What is the signal source? The TV subtitle control will only work for OTA channels (RF) and possibly native apps. For a Roku TCL TV, go to Settings from the Home Page. This should put you in the Options configuration display. Select Accessibility and press OK. Navigate to Captions Mode and set to OFF. Then click OK to save the setting.
If your source is a set-top box of any sort (cable/satellite box, DVD Player, etc), you have to turn off the subtitles from the box's remote/menu. Depending on the device, this could be easy or hard. One of my neighbors had a single satellite box for two TVs and needed captions on the second set. That meant turning on captions on both sets using the menus on the main TV. On my current set-top box, I have to go to Menu > Settings. Then I enter a code from my provider to access the menu and enter the Hardware settings. On this box, the captions control is under the Audio settings.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information on your source if you need help changing the subtitles on a specific streaming service or set-top box.
