First make sure that the new battery has been fully charged and is not defective. Next make sure that the proper voltage is reaching the started. You may have a bad post connection or loose connection at the starter. Try jumping you battery with another known good battery.
If you remove all of the 'unnecessary' sensors, good luck trying to get the engine to run properly as the ECU will be lost and emmision control will no longer work causing the money light to be on permanently.

Sounds like the IR Board has failed. Open it up and see if there are any signs of component damage. Yamaha Service Centres are excellent. Not much online about it.

Guessing in place of the existing incandescent bulb relay. It is a load resistance issue that makes them hyperflash.
