Yamaha RX-V1 Power

Got the same problem and did some searching.
Strange thing is that next day the amp works fine.
This is what I found on http://www.forums.hcsd.com.au/Blah.pl?m-1210733289/s-8/

SYMPTOM: The power cannot be turned on, or the protection circuit is activated to turn off the power.
CAUSE: Fluid leakage occurs from the backup capacitor C633 0.047F 5.5V (C662 in the case of RX-V3000/DSP-AX2) on the Function PCB and causes a short with the adjacent components and between patterns, resulting in operation of the protection circuit. Fluid leakage tends to occur with this capacitor particularly with high internal cabinet temperatures, with or without the power on. Often, the leakage is only visible with very careful inspection.

SOLUTION: Two types of backup capacitors are now available with a longer expected service life. When servicing, thoroughly clean the leaked fluid from the PCB and from under any nearby components before replacing the capacitor. There are models other than those mentioned above that use the subject backup capacitor. Check them for fluid leakage and replace the capacitor as needed.

Speaker output

Yes, there are relay type switches associated with those outputs. Your RX-V1 is not dying.
Just plug a pin plug in and out of the dead channel to bump the switch. You will hear the speaker
come on. If it doesn't come on,do the plug jack in an out of the pre out again. It will come on.
You can use the test tone to check all channels and rebalance volume levels. You are making the
pre out connect to its power amp. It seems the problem got better when activating those switches. Most likely a cleaning issue. You can also jump the mains and center, and there is also
a modification to jump all channels. I bought my RX-V1 very cheap because of this and love it.
Of course outboard power amp would solve all, but getting this reciever to connect to it's own
power amp has been thrilling as far as bang for the buck. I do use the front effects also, and like
them. It may seem like a pain, but it is worth it to get those channels going.

Yamaha rx-v673 sound cutting out

So, I traced the signal, and I don't think it's the chip overheating but a bad capacitor... When you hear that "click" when you turn it on, that's the energy from the capacitor kicking over the relay inside. This cap keeps that realy closed to keep the amplifier running. If you follow these instructions, your amp will work fine. Order these:

BOJACK 8X12mm 1000uF 10V 1000MFD 10Voltage ±20% Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors(Pack of 10 Pcs): Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Remove the HDMI control board from the faulty unit. Remove the old capacitor on the HDMI control board pictured below. Preheat your oven to 360 degrees after removal. Throw the entire board in for about fifteen minutes. Let the board cool for about twenty minutes. Solder in one of the new capacitors you just bought. Put the unit back together. I just performed this fix and my RX-V679 has been working for about five hours without a problem. I'll update if the issue comes back, but if you remove power overnight and the problem gets worse, it's not an electronic problem, but an electrical one. Power isn't reaching where it needs to be. 20200330_185206_arrow-undefined-undefined-0.jpg

DTS Master HD audio problem

Hey! Make shure your amp and blu-ray player output and input signals are set to "bitsteam" and you are useing HDMI and optical connections. I hooked up my Onkyo tx sr 506 integrated amp to a Samsung BD 1400 player and everthing worked perfectly right out of the box. Perhaps your amp can"t decode DTS HD Master or your blue ray doesn't support it although i think a firmware upgrade may accomplish this. Put on The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian which will DEFAULT to DTS HD MASTER 7.1 and see if it works. It's an excellent source to test your system. Picture and audio recieved 5 stars from Home Theatre magaziene and like i said, either your amp, or player doesn't support it or your interconnects are keeping it from coming thru. HDMI and OPTICAL connects and check your set up for "bitstream" Remember what Todd Rundgren allways said,"Everything will work if you just let it!"

My Yamaha HTR-6050 shuts off at random times and says "Check SP Cable"

That is a check the speaker wire error, caused by a short or perceived short. If you look at the back of the receiver you may see 1 strand of the wire loose, they are very hard to see sometimes. You may use banana plugs as it is painful to get everything hooked up without a few loose strands.

If there is still the issue check your speaker connections for the same issue. If they are in ceiling/wall speakers disconnect them all then plug them in one at a time to narrow it down.

If the issue persists perhaps one of your speaker wires has a short somewhere, could be a misplaced drywall screw from hanging a picture, or a carpet tack strip, or a pet deciding it was a nice chew toy.

If you are completely sure it is none of those then I would say it is a bad speaker or receiver. Try changing in and out known good speakers/receivers if you have access to them to see which one it is.

Good luck

Yamaha RX-V367, with the remote volume up is OK, but can not turn volume down with remote. Mute works. Is the problem the remote or the amp??

Hi Andrew Smith, as you comment, the problem would be in the remote control You can do a test to see if the remote control is broadcasting You put the camera of your cell phone focusing on the emitter of the remote control, press any key on the remote and through the camera you will see that the emitting LED turns on (this happens through the cameras of the cell phones detect infrared rays, our view can not do it directly) With this method you can check if they are emitting each key of the remote control If you don't emit, you can try cleaning the internal contacts Try to carefully disassemble the remote control Separate the plate and the rubber template from the keys, clean the latter with some neutral soap, removing the grease that forms in the contact area, on the other hand, clean the plate with a cloth dampened with a glass cleaner, NO USE ALCOHOL in any case, let all parts dry and reassemble Take the test and comment Greetings Franco Dosil Hola Andrew Smith, por lo que comentas, el problema estaria en el control remoto Puedes hacer una prueba para ver si el control remoto esta emitiendo Colocas la camara de tu celular enfocando al emisor del control remoto, presionas cualquier tecla del remoto y a traves de la camara veras que el LED emisor se enciende (esto sucedepor las camaras de los celulares detectan los rayos infrarojos, nuestra vista directamente no puede hacerlo) Con este metodo podras comprobar si estan emitiendo cada tecla del control remoto Siencuentras que no emiten, puedes probar limpiar los contactos internos Trata de desarmar con mucho cuidado el control remoto Separa la placa y la plantilla de goma de las teclas, limpia esta ultima con algun jabon neutro, sacandole la grasitud que se forma en la zona de contactos, por otro lado, limpia la placa con un pa?o humedecido con algun limpiador para vidrios, NO USES ALCOHOL en ningun caso, deja secar bien todas las partes y vuelve a armarlo Haz la prueba y comenta Saludos Franco Dosil https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/audio_visual/av_receivers_amps/rx-v367/downloads.html
