Hi. I had the SAME EXACT prob with mine. It's easy. On the stamp part, the date part; pull off the gray tabs. You have to pull hard, though!

I worked for a company that sold these stamps. Xstamper made some changes to this stamp & in doing so, the dater part would no longer attach to the received piece. Contact the company you purchased this from. Xstamper fixed our problem by going back to their older model so the two pieces would join together.
