Rapid Recovery or Rapid Restore? Email the company that makes the program and ask them to send you your license and key. I can't find a program called Rapid Restore or I'd help you further. Rapid Recovery is made by Quest.

You don't have say the operating system you use in your laptop. Anyways first try to restore your system by system restore operation which is inbuilt in windows OS. You can find this option in start menu > system tools. Restore your system in last system checkpoint date when the software & your system were working fine. But remember some unsafe documents which have saved after the checkpoint date in c:\ drive may lose. This restore operation will recover your X-Point software also may recover your system problem.

reinstall the webcam driver...

actually this is the codec pack problem.
the codec were trying to open the webcam.
If you installed k-lite codec pack or ffdshow codec, you might can easily solve this.

to fix the k-lite codec pack from opening your webcam:
(for windows xp only)
start > run :
type : rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\K-Lite Codec pack\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax",configure
go to directshow control, then you will see 'dont use ffdshow in:' with box contains application name with extension. so just add the application file name with extension.

example:
'explorer.exe;'
------
(without quote at the end)
by adding the explorer.exe usually can fix the viewing webcam in my computer.

for other codec, please locate the 'ffdshow.ax' file and just change the directory above without changing ',configure' parameters and 'rundll32.exe'.

Please explain more. What OS? Did you have sound before? What changes happened before w/ sound to w/o sound? Is pc laptop or desktop? Need more info, maybe your hearing went out.

You will get this error couse the ram have a problem.Just replace the ram and u will not get more this error!
