Updated the driver and my
HI. This will usually occur if the actual new updated driver pack is corrupted or flawed through no fault of your own. I would recommend to restore the previous working driver. This will restore stability until a new update is available. This will happen from time to time, due to the fact that, many driver updates may be packed incorrectly or built with flawed code. Simply rollback to the previous driver to correct the issues with the overheating. Continuing to run this defective new driver pack will damage your chip set.
I have the nvidia 8500
Your graphics card may be performing pooly because it is too hot. Ensure that the tempreatures are within range. You don't want it over 65deg Cen. Install at least one fan in your computer's chassis. Clean the graphics cooler and the CPU cooler of dust, this will increase airflow and reduce those temperatures.
You may need an upgrade either CPU, Graphics or RAM.
I can't tell you for sure as I don't know the secifications of your Gaming Rig.
Post them and I will tell you if it is your hardware.
Take care!

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause this problem or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket
