You will probably have to remove the left side cover and clean some spilled ink from around the waste tray.
That normally is what causes that.
There is a tray lock on the machine, but I personally have not seen that be an issue.
If there is a lot of ink in the machine. make sure after you clean it out, that you level the machine front to back and side to side. You do that by placing a level on the glass and level it up by that.

It could be the print heads need cleaning. Depending on the model of printer you can either do a clean through the actual printer or through the settings on a laptop or computer that is linked to the printer.
