Condition: Lid not opened between loads Check/Repair: The main electronic control board doesn't detect the lid opening between loads. Unplug the washer and check the wiring connections between the lid lock/switch and the main electronic control board. If the wiring connections are okay, replace the lid lock/switch.

Front loaders are bad about that. It needs to be inspected internally for damaged or worn shocks, springs and weights. Some have liquid counter balances. If you post the model number, I may be of more help.

I would get in touch with a washing machine repair person as I believe what you may have either a bearing disintegrating or the spider, the contraption that holds your drum horizontal and allows it to spin,may be corroding. It's called a spider, it's aluminum, and it's got only three legs but when those legs break, the plastic drum and other expensive things often suffer damage as well. We had this experience this spring with an Inglis washer which is a sister set to the Whirlpool Duet. If the spider is corroding or a bearing is going, and changed before it breaks, it will likely save you about $600 on your repair bill. Remember to compare any repair cost against the cost of a new unit including the age difference. Washing machines only last 7-10 years now... they just aren't built like they used to be.

Unpluggin the machine is pretty much the only way to reset it.Leave it unplugged for a couple hours if that doesnt work its most like a control board issue

I don't know what machine you have but some have clips you can push back with a putty knife or flat screwdriver just put the putty knife in the crack at the top of the front panel & slid it over till you hit something that will most likely be the clip push it in. Some have screws 2 at the bottom take them out & pull out on the bottom that will let the clip come out at the top. I would check for the screws first. Some have 2 front panels the bottom has clips you might be able to just pull out on the bottom panel at the top or use a screw driver to pry out. then check or screws at the bottom of the top panel. Check the harness from the ccu .If all in tacked replaced the ccu.

Jim, This could be the belt on the drum has broken or come off. It may also be the door latch switch is loose or broken.
