The drive is not showing on computer

The clicking noise indicates that your hard drive has failed, it won't get noticed on your computer any more.

Hi, My 1T WD Drive will not show my files.

Maybe your files are'hidden' ??! Enable to view hidden files by:
  1. Right-click the "Start" button, then select "Control Panel".
  2. Go to "Appearance and Personalization", then select "File Explorer Options".
  3. Click the "View" tab.
  4. Scroll down a bit and change the "Hidden files and folders" setting to "Show hidden files, folders, and drives".

Passport 160GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Black: I have a wd 160g external hard drive and everytime...

right click START ,choose properties, choose taskbar then customize ,and select power surge...and select ALWAYS HIDE

this way you get rid of the pop-up message and just don't worry about it :))
Or
Delete all the USB ports in the devices manager,
then restart the computer to let XP install all the USB ports again. Then go to the first USB port and right click on it and go to properties. Then on the advance tab click on do not show warnings

When i plug my externals one or both the computer

If I understand your question, you want to change what happens when you plug your external drive in. If you're using Windows 10, go to: settings>devices>autoplay. Sometimes I get tired of answering all the questions, and simply say OK. Then the next time I do something, it doesn't work like I want it to - so I change the autoplay setting.

I recenlty bought a Western Digital My Book

Try it on another computer, if it works you need to uninstall the drivers on your computer. If it fails, you may have a bad drive.

My wd 1000 gb external

you might need to create folders eg folder name a_to_f_files and copy the files the start their names from a to f and do the same for g to l with a folder named G_to_L There is a limit on the number of files you can have in the root directory in Windows so by creating a folder you split it up and windows sees less files in one folder or in the root directory
