In Device Manager, and under Network Adapters, open the Properties of your network connection card, click Power Management, and deselect anything that is checked. That should keep the card from shutting down in sleep mode. Also shut off the router, wait a few seconds, and restart. Make sure nothing is blocking the router; it needs to cool through convection. You could try blowing a small fan across the modem and router to see if that helps cool them.

I would reset the router and start over. hold the reset button on the router for 10 seconds to restore factory defaults.

I would check your DSL device first. Routers just send the signal out. The DSL device is what really controls everything you receive or send out.

you don't need a signal booster. Instead what you need is a WIFI signal repeater. This device basically captures your router's signal and repeat it to other devices. It is clear you have not setup encryption within the router. You need to access your router, go into the router setup and setup security normal wpa2 or wep pending your computers and operating system in use. It will ask you for a secret passkey to enter. Without having this setup any one can cannot to your wireless router. But once the passkey has been setup only you will be able to access it. Re establish the connection by hooking up a data cable from you computer to your router. Once re established you can be wireless again.

Where are you entering it? (In the router it should be) and simply enter "change password" you will then need to enter this new P/W into your laptop / PDA / iPhone etc.

Will likely have to reset you router and set it up again. Check you manual on how to do this.

modems are not routers. Routers can port forward. You need your WAN to face your ISP, and your LAN will need to face your router. Once you have your router talking to your ISP you can set it up to hand out interal network services, but I doubt SOHO routers will do port forwarding. Routers, however, can do port translation like passing gaming traffic over port 80 (web). You can do that in the security tab on your linksys.

If other channel work better, use that.
