Disconnect the battery then remove the wire off the starter , remove the bolts that hold the starter to the engine !
Bolts might be across ways or come upwards ! Pending what modle /make of engine you have !

Power trim is usually battery operated.

Volvo Boating | Answered on Aug 30, 2011 | 54 views

You connected trim motor directly to the battery and it worked, this indicates that other components controlling the trim are functioning. As per the problem, it indicates faulty trim switch. The switch itself is faulty.By pass the trim switch terminals by a jumper wire and see if the motor works, then its faulty switch.Replacing the switch should help.Get the switch removed and replaced.-------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

specifically or in general? Now single system depth finders are pretty rare as you know have GPS and Fish Finder properties and also plotters that will automatically steer the boat to destination. I have a Humminbird 998 with Side Imaging and all in HD. Side Imaging gives a 3D image of the bottom structure and objects.

There is no fuse box, they use inline fuses. Chase the wiring back to the battery, somewhere near the battery or the radio/fish finder will be a fuse on the power wire.

Check for a loose connection or corrosion at the transducer and the unit. Less likely, but bent or broken pin on the connector at the back of the unit. It always works until it doesn't, so that information is of no use.
