Cylinder head bolts (D4192T2): Cylinder head bolts are tightened in two stages. There is no need for retightening. Follow the order as pictured. Stage 1: Tighten to 30 Nm, Angle tighten to 50° ±4° in one movement without stopping. Then wait at least three minutes in order for the cylinder head gasket to stabilise. Stage 2: Completely loosen bolts 1 and 2. Tighten bolts 1 and 2 to 25 Nm. Angle tighten to 213° ±7° in one movement without stopping. Repeat the Stage 2 for the remaining bolts in the order 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10 as illustrated.

Set the emergency brakes and keep the brake pedal pressed during this procedure. Use a dashboard removal trim to pop up the trim around the shifter. On the driver's side, on the shifter side, is a white tab, which is the SHIFTER RELEASE. As you press down on the shifter release, manually move the shifter out of Park. The new key must be programmed to match your vehicle. Any Volvo dealership or good locksmith will know what to do.

The ROPS suystem is stand alone and does a self test each time the key is turned to the ON position. If the system detects an error, it disables and sets the light. You will need to have the car hooked to a scanner that is able to access the system and find out what is thinks is faulty. Could be a rodent chewed a wire, corrosion at one of the contacts, or an actual bad sensor or module.

I had a similar problem with my 1999 S80. Give this a try. You don't need any mechanical experience. At no point will you come into contact with any gasoline. This is a five minute fix if it's what I think it is.
Background: when you gas up your car, it goes down a tube to the gas tank. There is a vent on that tube to let off gas fume pressure that can build up in the tank. If the vent gets clogged pressure builds up in the tank. Modern gas pumps shut off when that pressure comes back up the tube from the tank. I think if you clean out the vent with a Q-tip you'll solve your problem. At least, it worked for me.

1. Get a flashlight and some Q-tips (I suppose anything long and pokey will do).
   
   
2. Go to where you put the gas in (you don't need to open to door or take the gas cap off).
   
   
3. Crawl under the car behind the tire and look up with the flashlight to about where you'd put the gas in. You should see something like the picture below (taken from my 1999 S80). Note that at the end of the red arrow, you can look up inside the tube a bit? When I was having this problem I could only see what looked like white cotton inside the tube. It turns out it was an old spider's nest. The spider was long dead from the gas fumes, but his nest made it impossible for me to fill up my car!

5. Place a Q-tip in the hole indicated by the red arrow. Swirl it around a bit. You shouldn't have to jam it or be very forceful. The Q-tip should remove any blockage.
   
   I suppose it's possible that when you open the blockage some gas fumes will vent out, so don't be smoking while you do this :) Now that I've said this, to be super-duper safe why not do this outside away from any chance of open flame.
   
   
6. Go gas up your tank and see if it works. It did for me.

Buzzing can be an issue with the door lock or central locking mechanism. You could try hunting for where the sound is more accurately. This will sound a bit silly but try this. Sound can travel through solid surfaces so can sound like they are coming from somewhere else. Put your ear against the side of the door panel nearest the handle and lock the car. Your listening to see where the noise is loudest. Listen at the hinge end as well to check if it's actually coming from inside the engine bay rather than inside the door.

This is one of those 'Yes - No' answers. Rear seat that drop were an option on the V40 so the answer could be no. Take a look through the left side of the back window at the rear parcel shelf, next to the left head rest. Your looking for a small push button panel, about the size of cigarette box, with two buttons on it. If it's not there the rear seats are fixed into position. If there is one there you might be able to 'trip' the lock spring from inside the trunk. This method is for a much newer model so it might not work. Look inside the trunk, high up on the rear seat where the flat of the seat meets the parcel shelf. There should be a metal rail going all the way across the car. I've attached a photo. Looking straight up at it there are holes in it and you should be able to see a spring or a cable through one of them. Using a chunky, flat blade screwdriver you might be able to 'flick' the latch to release one side of the back seat. The spring is a strong one sort will fight you. To do this you'll be lying with you legs hanging out of the trunk wrestling with it, Probably swearing a lot as well. If you manage to drop the back seat you probably need a small person to wriggle through the hole as I think the rear seat pad needs to be lifted for it to drop all the way.

There is no access from behind the rear seats. You can either call your Volvo dealership and they can advise a trusted locksmith or use your spare key. All Volvos have two keys.

There are two types or timing, camshaft and ignition.. Let's assume Camshaft and Valve timing

Check for a flat battery in the immobiliser box. Under the front offside wing cover on right hand drive models.

1. remove the headlight.(right side drivers perceptive.)
2. Check the oil level by placing a work light above the power steering pump and check the oil level through the hole in the body, across from and above the power steering pump.
3. Remove steering reservoir cap.
4. Fill power steering fluid as needed. Proper fill level as seen thru headlamp opening fluid WSS M2C204-A or equivalent

Please check your transmission fluid level. After the engine is warm pull the transmission stick and make sure the level is close to the full line and that the transmission fluid is red and not brown. You may have to change your transmission fluid and screen. If you plan to do it yourself I can advise you on how to change it step by step or you can take it to a transmission shop or dealership for a transmission tune-up. Good Luck

Have the transmission serviced at a Volco transmission service centre. It is not a DIY job!

very probable a motor mount is broken; or it could be a constant velocity joint.

Question moved to a Volvo Penta Marine category from Cars. Check the starter motor and solenoid for a dead short. It would take something big to blow the 50 amp fuse.

MODERN CARS NOW EVEN PULLING THE MAIN 12V CAR BATTERY THE RADIO GOES DEAD. (OFFLINE) THE DAY1 NEW ARE THE GLOVE BOX IS OPENED AND A TAG IS THERE, SAYS DO NOT LOSE THIS LICENSE. CODE PUT IT IN A SAFE PLACE IT STATES. (vin) scan it first and you did not. f22, f28, f65/ f66/f67 fuse blown R11B relay bad. learn to use a scan tool and win. stop guessing first. scan it and see comm errors? oops. does radio have head phone jacks to test for sound"?<< not sure me.
