Could be the radio need to be reset, some digital radios freeze some times , to reset disconnect the current (12v)to the device "car radio"and then connect it back again , If you dont find the 12v cabel to the radio, option 2 is to disconnect the battery on the car itself.

With an after market alarm it all comes down to how well it was fitted. They are not all going to be fitted in the same place for a particular model, you are not going to be able to just unplug it, dealers don't tend to be a lot of good when it comes to this sort of thing, they all come to us. Take it to an auto electrician, it's not difficult if you know what you're doing. If you don't know what you're doing you could be making the likes of me even more money.

First thing - How Many Miles does this Golf Have? Which engine does it have? Diesel? Smoke on acceleration indicates the injection pump may need attention. Gas Engine? Don't believe a turbocharger was a factory option - so - smoke on acceleration is probably piston rings - usually happens after a lot of miles. Best way to confirm that is by running a compression test - dry/wet test - warm up engine, check compression (dry part) - then - add a couple squirts of oil to the cylinder and check compression again. If the added oil increases compression by 20 to 30 PSI or more / you have compression ring issues. Let me know if this helps you out thanks

google the autobox number or get the actual part number from vw. Irs also on the info sticker which maybe by the spare wheel. Dont be surprised at how many vw, audi, seat, skodas etc use the same parts. Roger

check fuel relay under hood fuse box and iside fuse box might have blown/make sure pump relay is connected to fuel pump connection..check all electrical connections

best ignore it or replace the 02 sensor or cat.

There is a Coolant Fan Control Relay on the main relay panel ('98 -5/'03), located under the left side of the instrument panel, Position 13, number on relay, 53, 2nd row, far right

With those two pieces of information (VIN and Serial Number) call the service department of your local VW DEaler - they should give you your code for free. Sometimes the code is on a stick on the top of the radio, but I am guessing that if you have found the serial number, (usually in the same place), you lucked out on that. (Getting to the top of the radio usually requires special "keys". available on ebay for $5 usually..)

Bring it to autozone and they will check why the light is on for free

It's all in that one switch. If faulty the switch (which is the relay too) needs to be rplaced. Make sure fuse number 2 (10 amp) and fuse number 39 (15 amp) are ok. Hope this helps....

you need to connect the permanent plus to the battery and the acc wire (yellow) comes from the eqnition switch

check all fuses if one looks black or the wire inside the fuse is bbroke then replace the fuse

Check the fuel filter, fuel line. Check the spark plugs, the distributor, timing and the HT cables. Check also the carburator.

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio. The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your VW service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

You need a locksmith to fix this problem.
