Unfortunately, the camera embeds the time and date into the image itself so once it is there the only way to remove it is with photo editing software. This would take some skill with the software to take out the time/date and make the photo look natural.

If you want to give this a go try the free software at getpaint.net. I suggest looking at the "clone stamp" feature and reading the manual on the help menu from inside the software so you know how to use it.

you may get software to try and look for the deleted files (if they were actually written to the SD in the first place) the data in files are usually not deleted until something write over the data. its only marked as free space. but if it is lost. dont be upset. you will end up with many many hours of videos and pictures of your child :) one single lost xmas video will mean nothing in the long run How to recover deleted files

You can certainly recover the videos from it. Just connect your camera to your PC and make use of the app shown here in this tutorial...

I did not find a solution, fortunately as the camera was still within its warranty period of 1 year, we are arranging to return it to the store where it was purchased.

Mostly additional software isn't needed as digital cameras invariably capture and store images in jpeg format that can be downloaded, viewed and stored on any Windows computer and probably most other types. Connect the camera to a usb port and switch on and the computer should recognise it and provide an onscreen menu. Once connected one of my cameras produces an onscreen menu where I have to select "connect to pc". An alternative to the above is to remove the memory card from the camera and use a card reader to access the pictures. The cd supplied with a digital camera is usually photo processing software, the like of which can be downloaded free from many online sources.

Well after looking at the manual, it is of no help but the pictures show it hinging open. Try pressing down and sideways along the compartment door from hinge line to outer edge. It it slides, it should unlock. Read reviews that indicated Vivitar customer support told an owner to visit a camera shop. Manual is on the CD included with the camera. Good luck.

Do the batteries hold the charge?

could be a stuck (broken) lens, broken CCD or broken LCD cable. (white light means backlight is working) I would suggest taking it to a repairman.

I presume you mean the software relating to this camera does not install. Is the software the correct version for your OS ?

Hi,

The reason you get no sound on playback of videos is that this camera has no Microphone. This is one of the most disappointing features of the camera as whilst it has video capability it has no ability to record Audio.

Vivitar have omitted this feature on several models to keep costs down and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it in terms of adding audio.

If you have a video editing program on your computer you may be able to add a voice over or a soundtrack to the video by using this method but no original audio can be recorded.

All digital cameras have an internal battery that you cannot change. When the battery fails you have to send the camera in for repairs.

Do you mean the Vivitar ViviCam X014N? If so, the battery compartment is on the right hand side as you look back of the camera with the view screen and menu buttons. The cover on the battery compartment will rotate up from the bottom of the camera when opened. This is shown in the manual although it isn't completely clear.
