Can i use a 12v 50ah car battery on my mobility scooter?
, hi ,well you will need two of them for a start( 24v) , GEL batteries can supply much more amp than a car battery for a longer given time, where a car battery will start to drop off voltage wise a good GEL will hold up the voltage for longer, this is the important part most mobility scooter controller will start to cut out around 18 volts or less.RegardsGeWiz.
VECTOR JUMP STARTER REPLACEMENT BATTERY
Over 150 of them listed on ebay. 12v 19ah will get you to someone with one. As far as the jump starter is concerned the only problem with the increased ah is the size of the battery and the increased load on the charger, but I don't expect it to be a problem.
I have not used my
Ann You probably have a problem with the charger and your batteries. If it has sat for several months and wasn't charged during that time the batteries are too low to be charged and the charger cannot pickup the charge on the batteries. Now check the charger to see if it has a fuse if it does check the fuse to make sure it is good If the fuse is ok then if Charlie has a voltmeter he cqn check the output of the charger at the 3 prong plug set the meter to 200 volts dc and touch the 2 outter pins of the plug careful not to touch the barrel of the plug. the voltage should be 27+ volts output. If you aren't getting any reading then the charger needs to be replaced. Hope this helps
After a few seconds cooling
This usually indicates that the battery is fully charged. Does the indicator light change? Have the batteries been sitting unused for a while? If so, they may have oxidized inside and will no longer take a charge. The charger is indicating they are full, but instead of being full of energy, they are full of crud and need to be replaced.
Good luck!
