A completed discharged battery yields a solid red light. A blinking red light means the battery has not yet received enough of a charge to operate the phone. You need to leave it on the charger longer, perhaps a half hour or more, for this blinking to cease.

The Uniden XDECT 8315 does not have an answering machine. It will check your voice mail. Setting that greeting depends on your telephone service provider. Check your provider's voice mail FAQ. To have your XDECT 8315 get your voive mail messages, press Message and then select Voice Mail. Then follow the prompts to enter your voice mail access number. Alternatively, you can press Menu > Global Menu Settings > Edit Voice Mail. See pages 17 and 32 of the manual. (See the link below.) If you do not have voice mail from your telephone company, you can add a stand-alone answering machine. Just make sure to connect the answering machine to the telephone jack. If you get clear audio when close to the receiver, it would appear to be a problem in either the antenna or the receiver. Try a different antenna or relocate the antenna. If you adjusted the VSWR low it doesn't mean the power is radiating correctly. Verticals should be on roof, with roof as ground plane. Mounting on mirrors is ok, but doesn't work as well. Also, if you have sheet metal near the antenna, it acts as a ground reflector and can distort or block the waveform. You might also try it with a different receiver, in case yours has a faulty pre-amp stage. It could also be a power amplifier problem in the transmitter, where it shows 5 watts but isn't putting out that amount. You can check it with an RF watt meter.

Usually you can press block calls again it will give you your list of numbers and you can usually unblock from there. If nothing helps call Uniden customer service and they will help you.

If you need to change the greeting then you should use custom greeting to suit your needs. Go to Menu and then settings for answering system go to greetings and it should give you instruction.

I don't think you can transfer to external. You can make a 3 way call, but then you would have to stay on the line to keep that line open.

Unfortunately, you can't transfer from the old to the new. There is no data transfer port (usb) and you will have to manually enter your phone numbers into the new phone.

The problem sounds like a wiring fault to me. Landlines ring when the POTS (plain old telephone system) provides power on the receive wire. See https://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx for the RJ-11 wiring diagram. Try a different phone at the jack and a different telephone cord. If it rings constantly, that tells you the problem is with the wiring in the building or outside. You need to find where additional electricity is coming into the telephone wiring. Check the jack first. Most jacks either have screw terminals or keystones. Use the wiring diagram above to make sure that the wires are connected to the correct point. If you have the screw type of terminal, you need to strip the insulation from the conductors before securing the wires. For the keystones, leave the insulation intact. Then use a punch-down tool (available at most hardware stores in the electrical section) to push the wire into the correct slot in the keystone. There must be a place where the insulation is damaged and touching another wire or water is in contact with bare metal and a current is flowing across the water. If only the Uniden phone rings constantly even with the new RJ-11 cable, replace the phone. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells
