Troy-bilt TB6042 Xp oil leaking into in air filter
The typical reason to lose oil into the filer box, is that the engine has been tipped up, this allows engine oil to travel down the breather tube and into the back of the box, the other reasons are, engine worn, or the engine breather itself is faulty.
How do you adjust the drive belt on a Troy-bilt 12AV565Q711 self propelled lawn mower?
1. Disconnect the spark plug wire at the front of the mower, siphon any excess fuel from the gas tank and verify that the oil dipstick is securely fastened to avoid oil leakage.
2. Remove the screw located on the side of the mower deck, next to the right rear tire, then tilt the mower onto its side so the air filter is facing up.
3. Unfasten the blade retention bolt. The blade retention bolt is located in the center of the blade. Slide the blade off the mower.
4 Unfasten and remove the screws holding the engine baffle to the mower deck, then remove the baffle. The baffle is the circular piece located beneath the blade.
5. Remove the screw fastening the belt cover to the mower deck. Remove the spring between the belt cover and transmission pulley, then remove the belt cover to expose the belt.
6. Adjust the belt to the desired tension by manipulating the engine and transmission pulleys. If the belt has become slack due to age, you need to replace it. To remove it, slide it off the engine pulley first, then slide it off the transmission pulley.
7. Replace the removed items in reverse order.
On a Troy-Bilt pressure washer I've cleaned carburetor clean the gas tank put in new gas it will start with starter fluid but will not run
I’m not that familiar with their pressure washer but I was able to get a few more years out of my string trimmer with a more in-depth cleaning than I was used to. I had let my trimmer set up through two seasons because I had someone doing my lawn. Steve is right about the tiny passages. I took my carb apart and “cleaned with some spray can parts cleaner wiped the parts dry and reassembled. Didn’t work. An old shade-tree friend showed me that I needed to soak the parts in cleaner. Their was a small steel mesh screen that I wasn’t able to clean with just the spray. I also CAREFULLY used compressed air to blow out those small passages. I did eventually replace the carb but got a few more years before I had to. Check your filters also. They’re cheap to replace.
