Tomtom Navigator - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
My navigation program keeps shutting down, and the
A likely cause is that the battery is "dead" ... i.e. no longer holds a charge. The GPS runs on battery power, even if it is plugged in. It will work even if the battery holds a (small) charge. But if the battery doesn't hold much of a charge anymore, the device may go into "power saving mode" ... that's where you'll notice the screen brightness goes down, the screen color changes, etc.
If this is the case, you'll want to change the battery.
If this is not the case, it is possible that the navigation software is corrupted. And you'll want to restore it from backup, or download a fresh version (from TomTom.com).
My GPS is giving incorrect
I think you need to speak with the tec service at the manufacturer of your device (whose make and model you don't give) to resolve this trouble. Had you given more device detail, I could have provided a link for you.

Tomtom 930 will not pair with Interphone 4
Sadly, it's not possible to do what you want.
The lower cost, non bike specific units only have limited BT capability
- so that they can act as a handsfree for a phone - which is what
Interphone does, so there's fundamental incompatibility.
The best units with Interphone are Garmin Zumo 550 (NOT 660) or TomTom
Rider 2.
Only one person can hear the gps (and the range is only 10m from
Interphone to gps)
Your best bet could be to get phones with gps capability - it's free on
some of the new Nokias.
My tom tom one will not turn on
i take it you mean you have a green light and nothing else, try resetting it there is a small pin hole at the back of the tomtom that says reset use a paperclip and press and hold for ten seconds , if that doesnt start it up then i am afraid you have blown a chip on the tomtom through a dodgy car charger
I have a sat nav which I beleive uses tomtom 5 or
There are few things here to consider.
1) the 4 digit postcode is related to say Australia, you are using the basic fronte end of a set of maps designed for a country with 4 digits but have modified some poi's that should be in a 6 digit environment
The size of the card is beyond the ability of the unit to read, so you get errors. Use a smaller capacity card and try again.
If your GPS alllows music and photo storage, use a separarety card for these and put the orginal capacity card back for the maps
You have also programed in a starting point location.. your home. All GPS gave this feature, remove it and leave blank it will say always start from Sydney CBD.by default, unless programmed otherwise to your address.
If it continually defaults to a non standard ( your address) bthen when it is savin the information the personal info file is corrupt.
As you have fiddled with the software it will bew hard for any tech to sort out your problem.
I have this all the time on our own brand of GPS, where people change voices, put in POI's written and converted from other models or even brands and somehow corrupt the basic files.
If you have a card reader ( i am sure you do) put the card in and type part of your address in SEARCH and see which file it appears in (.data) (.txt) delete it and recreate it then try again.
Hope that helps
