The speakers on a lot of TVs are not very good quality and seem to rely on owners providing their own audio solution. You have a couple of options if the TV speakers are not up to expectations. 1. If you have a hifi system or Ipod dock in your house with a 3.5mm jack input, and you TV has a 3.5mm jack headphone socket then you could connect it up and this will use the speakers on your audio equipment which will improve the output.

Could be a heat problem, try cleaning it, vacuum all vents, try to get as much dust and dirt out of the vent areas as you can. Make sure the vents are not being blocked.

Unplug the tv and hold the on/off switch on the tv (not remote) for 30 seconds. This should clear any power left in your electronic boards. Then plug it back in and try again.

Channel 3 is normal for that. Always have it on channel 3 on the TV set. Then you can work with it. Check your stuff and see is there a switch to set for channel 3 or 4, if none present, put it on 3, then start from the menu to set it up with remote.
