The HDD will spin up and may stay on for as long as the computer is connected depending on how the computer bios is set up. I set mine to switch off 10 minutes after no activity. That gives the HDD time to write to it and check itself.

Some video formats may be incompatible with the player. Your laptop probably has more codecs, so more compatibility. Try a program like Video Inspector to see formats of different files.

With the player connected and turned on, open the file explorer window (sometimes named "My Computer" or simply "Files"), or look at your desktop for an icon for the player. From this and several other posts you made on this device (I assume you are the same Anonymous poster), it appears you do not have a formatted hard drive installed in the unit, or you didn't know the computer is treating it as an external drive (even if it calls it an "unknown" USB device. Your computer is looking for the file system in the enclosure. The directions for finding the unit from a Windows computer (written for the mkv, not the mkv 2, but they would probably work the same) are given in the review article linked below. Note: if you don't find any "Unallocated" disk, look in "My Computer" for a drive that isn't your internal hard drive or other usual device. There is a "Firmware" update to Cyclone micro 3 .This can be downloaded from Sumvision web site :- http://www.sum-vision.co.uk/productinfo/micro3b/micro3b.aspWhen downloaded copy the file on to a Memory stick or card and click the USB entry or memory card entry on the main menu, and the Cyclone will update itself .There should now be an entry on the main menu for "internal storage"

It will not directly go to the external hard drive. Try copying the ripped video and pasting it in the external hard drive which is detected by your computer.

The problem is the laser pickup assembly in the dvd, If it freezes the stepper motor which drives the worm gear along with the laser carriage is the problem, the precision in tracking is critical and any interference causes the picture to freeze. If you have any warranty on the unit I would encourage you to take it back for possible exchange, because it will get worse and finally become unusable.

Hi,
As you have changed the setting which is not supported by your present TV you are not getting anything in your TV. To rectify this problem, get a help from your friend to conn0ect your media player to any High definition 1080P supported LCD tvs for time being. This time your device should show up in the TV which supports 1080p and restore the settings back to the one which was working with your TV.
