My Star TSP600 Thermal Printer is displaying a flashing Error light. Power light on, new roll of paper loaded correctly, self-test was ineffective - nothing printed. What's my next step?

i know you stated you put the paper in correctlyin the printer but if the thermal reactive side of the paper is not facing the print head the thermal paper won't print on the wrong side of the paper. it will load into the printer and seem ok but the heat on the wrong side of the paper will not react and show any writing. Can you try turning the paper over in the printer feed holder so the other side of the paper faces the print head and give it another test .

Printer doesn't work, no lights, I made sure cable is connected properly and even tried to connect a cable from different tsp100 - still dead

As per your question it is understood that, your printer is completely dead and you have also made sure the power connections are connected properly but still same issue. To help you further, it is suggested to try changing the power cord of the printer with new cable. If issue persists, it is recommended to contact your printer manufacturer if the printer is under warranty or else you can take the printer to the nearest local technician for further help. Where is ink cartridge located?

This tis a Direct Line Thermal printer and does not use a cartridge. You use special paper that is chemically coated to react to print. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16828154100

My printer shows no power and has NO power switch

If you have a TSP100, it should have a power switch, located on the left side of the printer, halfway back along the base. Here is a link to the manual which shows a picture of the switch location. Star Micronics TSP100 Hardware Manual Turning Power On
