Gotcha... it MAY be a internal ribbon cable to your screen is loose (or not seated 100%) OR sometimes a cable one conductor inside the cable breaks and acts like a switch ~ providing a OK display sometimes ~ or not. A PC repair shop will take a quick look for you for X-Bux and IF it is a loose connector/ribbon cable they MAY be able to fix it for you on the spot... A decent camera repair shop may be a answer for you too? They are very familiar with tiny screws and display repairs. Be careful though and don't spend too much... I would not recommend you open it yourself because sometimes things go "boing" and tiny things go flying. Anthony

I have Sony VGN-FS630/W about

OK... TRY to start your SONY with the batter removed... will it start? If it does, buy a new battery and DON'T run your Sony for very long without one! Your Power Supply may have failed so suspect that first. They are about $11 or so including shipping. See the link below. Now a new BATTERY is much more expensive starting around $27 and up ~ so I would try a new supply first! Also some shippers are getting stinky about battery shipments too so that may have added to costs? Surprisingly, mother boards don't just up and fail... Usually some connections like USB or audio functions fail first... so try to think of a bad mother board last. On desktops if your "on board", "mother board provided" audio/Network/WiFi/USB fails... it's a snap to plug in a replacement card to get them working again! NOT so easy on a laptop. I have a sony vaio tx750p that is just completely

Hummm.... are you SURE your supply is 100% OK? It's not enough to use a voltmeter to read the voltage... your voltage and supply need to be tested under load or with the laptop RUNNING or trying to run. I'm curious to know if your laptop will run without the battery? Sometimes batteries get so bad the System won't start because the battery demand is so high and the supply shuts down! So OK.... step-by-step here's a link that shows you a complete TX750P "tear-down"... I mean it's so complete the guy has the mother board in his hands... NOT for the weak of heart! HUGE WARNING! Laptop s---ws are not always the same length! If you replace a short s---w with a longer s---w you MAY damage components below or some parts may not mount securely! They are the LENGTH they need to be... so use some method to keep track of where each came from. I use just the bottom half of a egg carton (top cut off) and different colored felt pens to mark a few egg cups. A color dot on the metal chassis to match does the trick. A red black and blue marker should be enough... Also the guy is shown using a slick tabletop ~ I do NOT recommend that... Work and disassemble on a soft towel so a dropped screw won't get lost in space! The towel does not need to be too thick ~ just enough to provide a soft working base and so you won't scratch your laptop covers! How do you know it is not a battery problem? It seems obvious that the charger is working as the message you get tells you it is getting power to the laptop. So it looks like the solution is to get a new battery, also indicated by the fact that you can't boot with the battery in.

My Sony PCG K45 laptop

That means the laptop is not recognizing that it has a hard drive installed. The settings may have gotten messed up in BIOS regarding boot order as well. Given that model initially shipped with XP, I would say the hard drive is old enough that it could have failed.

There is a colored line

Hi Veronica, Create a recovery disc if you have not yet created one. Make backup copies of your valuable files, then try any of the following: Restore system files from the latest restore point when your computer was working normally. Uninstall software or software drivers which are not compatible with your computer, if you have installed such software or software drivers, or, restore the preinstalled software or software drivers to the originally factory condition. Restore your data from the backup copy made with the Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore feature. You cannot restore your files which you have changed or created after the backup. If your computer still does not work properly, recover the computer system. Another option, "after making a backup disk as above" is to use windows to reinstall all files back to factory settings. Hope this helps. Kind regards David

I added a second hard drive to my sony pc-rs220

Stan, I think PCV-RS220 PC Desktop is correct and not 'pc-rs20'? I can't fathom why SONY would say 2 drives can't be happy together because clearly ~ as shown in the SONY photos ~ physical SPACE, IDE CONNECTIONS and POWER connections are provided for 2 drives! I have included a SONY link for Hard Drive replacement below for you... and I see yours is a older "IDE" type hard drive! Please know IDE HARD DRIVES (CD Drives included) have JUMPERS that MUST be set correctly! Your MAIN drive is the "MASTER" and your SECOND drive is the "SLAVE"... IF BOTH are jumped to "MASTER" I can fully understand WHY your system and software is confused and I'm SURPRISED that your system would allow you to fully BOOT at all! It's SLOW because your system is not SURE WHICH DRIVE to go to for the information it needs! STRONG ADVISE: Just so your SOFTWARE and DRIVERS don't get all jumbled-up and shoved onto the wrong drive, KEEP YOUR COMPUTING TO A MINIMUM until you get your MASTER/SLAVE setting right! Once your JUMPERS are correct your system will be quite happy and peppy again. Now please don't be offended with the title... just GLEAN the info from the PHOTOS to see what I describe. Also note a "CSEL" jumper? If all else fails read up more on that choice! Anthony How to Set Jumpers for Your Computers IDE Drive dummies https://docs.sony.com/release//T99860136_Rev_C_NO_PHONE.pdf

My Sony VAIO VGN-AR290G laptop

Hummmm.... are you sure your cable is good? Can you try connecting with another cable?... Check the cable CONNECTORS and be sure NO pins are pushed back into the molded body. All should pins should be quite 'flush' with the outer connector metal frame. Does your display work if you connect your cable and monitor to another system? Gee I'm trying to envision a LCD display and it's associated electronics AND your SVGA connector?... I mean I know they both process video, but they should be independent of each other? I have a newer TOSHIBA that had a LCD so trashed it kept dumping junk from the display... So I cut the display hinges OFF and cut the supporting cables to it too... hoping for no shorts! That system is still working GREAT ~ with a external monitor... and no Wi-Fi and sorry that does not really help you. Anthony 9_pin_connector_male-bs1zel5amfgfinwggzls12ee-2-0.jpg

Apple mobile device usb drivers has malfunctioned and exceed the power limits of its hub port.

Ewwwwwww... no fun. You should try a "POWERED" 4 Port USB 3.0 Hub It's important that it's a "POWERED HUB" because you need the HUB to supply it's OWN power and not depend on your Apple E to provide power to your connected USB devices! The good news is they don't cost much: $8 on eBay Auction: 202096902632 Note that they include the power supply! Many other HUBS don't. Your HUB is even LESS if you pick on the USB 2.0. Version, AND YES, each HUB MUST have it's own power supply and that's just what YOU need. The ONE thing I didn't like about this HUB is the LED lights that are provided for each port! They are TOO bright so I opened it up and plucked all but one LED out. I also bought the 8 and 10 Port HUB versions and 'fixed' them too. I also didn't need the switches to confuse things (accidentally turn one or more ports OFF)... so my trusty hot glue gun fixed that! All are constant ON now. Wireless switch in VGN-NR310E does not light

Yep ~ welcome to the SONY BLUES. You see SONY has a nasty habit of using up to 5 and more DIFFERENT WiFi BOARDS and they are NOT alike... each requires a SPECIAL Driver unique just to it! So a SPECIFIC MODEL SONY 123XYX LAPTOP (example) CAN and DOES have many DIFFERENT WiFi cards in it. Only ONE card, but potentially different manufactures! I don't intend to be redundant, I just need you to fully understand your problem! And sadly it's not JUST the WiFi cards! It may be Audio or even USB Drivers! BOOO SONY! What's more is SONY does NOT have the courtesy to put all of those drivers on one CD ~ the rats. I again recommend a FREE download of SPECCY. It SHOULD tell you ALL you need to know about your WiFi and almost ALL other hardware in your System(s)! Heck it even tells you your CPU temperature! See the links below... Armed with the SPECIFICS, hunt for the FRESHEST drivers you can find for your specific card AND be SURE to MATCH your Operating System too! Is it Windows 7 32-Bit or 64-Bit? I have a sony Vaio

I wonder if your 'Front Light' seems any dimmer than what it was? It can be your aging power supply is not providing the full voltage your laptop needs?... Let's say your laptop needs 19.5 Volts (and it DOES), but your supply can only provide 16 or lower volts? You may see results like you are getting now... New supplies are not that expensive (about $14 inc US shipping) and rather spending a lot for diagnostics and waiting a week or so, a new fresh supply MAY be all you need! OK... I just found a NEW supply for $8.52 on eBay for your system and he's a US Shipper too. It's worth a try! Anthony Vaio VGN CS110E power supply eBay
