Go to devices in your control panel and see if your camera is showing. If not hit install device and it should detect the camera and install it. Also you could go to your "system" in control panel and scroll down to see if camera is installed. If so try the upgrade software button. Also go to your Sony laptop online and get all the latest upgrades for your laptop.

Uninstalling doesn't necessarily reset the profile settings. There are a few things to try. Ask Sony tech support and they will definately have the answer. Formatting your hard drive and reinstalling windows will definitely nerf the old settings. You can try revo uninstaller which does more software removal for a program than the uninstaller included does. You can also try to add a new user account in windows and that might change the saved settings.
