CCD Failure !!

u can try Sony for free CCD replacement as it is a known issue in thousands of cameras see the link here, it starts with these horiz lines and verrtical noise type thing and suddenly it also turns black or blank screen after sometime , u are covered in this advisory list 100% i am sure see the links below and pls rate me FIXYA for help

Does the laptop recognize the camcorder as a separate drive ?

Nothing wrong with the Canon, but you cannot expect one piece of equipment to play tapes recorded a dozen years ago on equipment of a different make. Your best bet will be to find someone to transfer the tapes to DVD for you.

sir, this error code is related with the HDD, please connect with your computer and save all the files in a folder then format the camera using the computer, then ones more format the HDD with your camera. try it, with record.

There is a tutorial for transferring video from tyhis camera to a computer on the Sony website. Unfortunately, you do not say what kind of computer (PC or Mac) or operating system you have, and you have to specify this on the website to get the right instructions.

The instructions for a Windows computer are as follows:

Movie player applications must support mpeg 2 playback to open these files properly. Refer to the software manufacturer for additional information and available updates.

1. Turn on the computer.
2. Make sure the camcorder is turned off.
3. Connect the camcorder to the computer using the supplied USB cable.
4. Plug the AC power adapter into an electrical wall outlet and then connect it to the camcorder.
5. Open the LCD screen on the camcorder.
6. Turn on the camcorder.
7. The USB SELECT screen will be displayed on the LCD; touch the HDD icon.
8. Open the My Computer window on the computer.
9. In the My Computer window, double-click the icon that represents the camcorder and then navigate through the folder structure to locate the video you want to transfer. Note: The camcorder will be listed in the My Computer window as an additional hard drive.
10. Click to select the video or image files you want to transfer. Note: If your are using a High Definition Handycam® Camcorder, Sony recommends copying and pasting the AVCHD folder to the hard drive of the computer before accessing its contents.
11. Type CTRL+C to copy the files.
12. Click on the computer folder to which you want to copy the video or still image files.
13. Type CTRL+V to paste the file into the computer folder.

you can use the tv cable and plug it in the tv and there or take out the disc and put it on your computer and opwn the disc and find a .vob file (make sure to click the one that has more mb/gb

you probably cannot connect you camcorder, you can just use video capture software when you play the dvd on your mac. there are 100s of free to use capture software, just google & choose the one you like.

in either case the head condition is bad.. pls inspect the tips on the head whether it is not damaged in the cleaning.inspect the drum hours also..

Print from where ? Is the file a PDF file, or from other proprietary software ? Either way, just send it to your printer.

Either the battery is flat or something is stuck on the cassette case preventing the case sliding out with the mechanism.
