Ha this sounds like you may have accidently pressed the AV button, it has special borders and setting within the camera, these are used for title effects and other tricks, just press the button again a couple of time filming and see if it vanishes.

hi, the tape deck mechanism is faulty, the remedy is to change the mechanism. if you can repair it open take out the mechanism, remove the head, eject housing,and the sensors mechanism locking plate etc, then peel out the flexible cable from the mechanism, and change it.

when you bought the camera,is the seller give you the driver CD?normally,windows 7 doesn't need any driver to connect a device, there's might be an error when the windows installed the driverI recomend you to go to the Device Manager,uninstall the current driver,and try to connect your camera again,the windows will re-install the driver automaticallyAnd if you can't find the driver on the internet,you can go to the shop and ask for the driver CDIf those doesn't fix your problem,give me the detail series of your camera and i'll search the internet for it :-)

I have had this error on my 3 year old Sony A1E and it has resulted in glitched picture and audio, despite not showing a poblem whilst recording. It came up with C:31:23 error. Start of the tape seemed ok and the end seemed to get pixellated. A friend said the PD170 had the same issue and had to have her tape heads changed. I've tried cleaning mine but problem still there. I'm looking at getting new NXCAM as I've spent a lot of money last year getting it fixed.

Jeff, to assemble a lens, you need a collimator to make sure all optical elements ate correct in place. You need skills and a manual, to be able to adjust all lens elements in a correct order. Asking this question, I'm sure you don't have a manual, a collimator and you miss the skills. So if you don't want to end up with a pile if glass, unable to act as a lens, please don't try this yourself. Even Sony will not reassemble the lens if you took it apart. If you really need a lens to b cleaned, please bring it to a Sony certified service centre and ask them what it will cost to clean / replace the lens.

Check the safe switch on cass is not in write protect mode.
