Black LCD and out of focus

My LCD screen has also malfunctioned - some-one else has also posted a similar problem and has been told its to do with a carbon cable connecting the LCD screen to the camera that needs replacing.
Not sure about the viewfinder problem - is there a control to adjust the focus, or is that what you mean by the viewfinder lever?

I am one of the lead technicians at VideoOneRepair.com toll free 888 283 2228. We are a repair shop that specializes in only Sony and Canon Prosumer camcorders. The problem that you are experiencing with your Sony HVR-A1U camcorder is a common problem with this model camcorder. The ribbon cable that connects the LCD screen to the main part of the camcorder goes faulty and needs to be replaced. Sony also recommends that when this cable is replaced you must also replace a modified part to prevent this from happening again. The estimate to replace both of these parts is $360.19 parts and labor. This also includes cleaning and servicing. We also offer a 6 month guarantee on the entire camcorder, not just what it was sent in for. The estimate and the return shipping are free even if you do not have the camcorder repaired. Please feel free to call, email or post any questions you have and I would be happy to respond.

My HVR-V1U has a focus

That's the backfocus problem. Take your camera to a Sony service. If the lenses are ok, they will do an adjustment. If the lenses are defective, they willreplace the lenses, but that costs much.

HVR-A1 Optical zoom is not

The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling the camera to remove the lens assembly and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively but it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Sony camera cassette door stuck

Possible this can be a mechanical fault as the cassette body got struck because there was some stickers on the sides or if there was a loose link.
If so you can remove the top cover and gently tap on the cassetter as the cam is powered to allow the tape to wind back so as to eject.
If there is no unloading of the tape back to the cassette, then it can be failure of the loading drive, failure in the servo section in which case you will need to remove the covers and check the loadin IC, the power and the board.

Sony hvr-m35u deck wont turn

There is ether a problem with the power button or there is a brake in the circuit. Meaning power isn't being directed properly. Etherway you'll have to open it up. If it all looks ok check the resistors, transistors, and copasitors on the board. If they look ok poke around with a a curent tester (a screw driver with an LED insid, lights up where there's power) to see where where you're not getting any current. Once you locate where the problem is you can figure out what's wrong. Maibe some on put in a wrong transistor or something, maibe it's the wrong way. You may be able to get some schematics from the manufacturers website. It might help, but you may not even need them. If you do get them you can mach them up and see where the problem is.

My Mac OS X

Hi pewkletzien,

Make sure that you switch off the camcorder first and then switch it on so that you find that the camcorder has been connected without any specific problems.

Then you need to check up again with the system profiler as to whether the device seems to be reflected.

Restarting the system and doing the above procedure would help as well.

Hope this helps ...:) Let me know in case you have any queries.
