Check the safe switch on cass is not in write protect mode.

This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

hi, it sounds like the tinny switch that detects the "safe" function is broken... normaly it is a little plastic "finger" that is pushed when in safe mode and stays in place when in record mode...

hi, yes it has, go in camera settings but if advise you, better not to use it because too much pixelizing with deep zooms (that's why it is desactivated from the beginig)

First and foremost shut down the device. Remove the battery if possible for 1 minute. Then restart/power up device. If still no luck or response. Go into the setting and look for the reset to default setting if there is no option for touch screen controls. Best of luck

it's the flexible ribbon cable that feeds the LCD. Most likely to be the (leadless) solder that Sony's forced to use between PCB and ribbon these days. Shouldn't be an expensive repair.
