My Smeg gas oven lights up when I press the knob to light but as soon as I release the knob the flame dies?

Question edited for clarity. The thermocouple safely device needs replacing. It's job is to make sure there is a good pilot flame before opening the main burner valve. When they fail, the flame goes out. You can try holding the knob longer, or just call for service and have it replaced. It is a gas appliance so should only be worked on by a gas certified technician. It is a fast job, in and out in 30 minutes, so call out plus the part. ..

Smeg Dwau6d15xt dishwasher stopped working

It sounds like you're experiencing multiple issues with your Smeg DWAU6D15XT dishwasher. The combination of non-responsive control buttons, unusual display behavior, and a stuck door mechanism could indicate a few different issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try: 1. **Power Reset:** You've already attempted this step, but it's worth mentioning again. Turning off the dishwasher at the wall for an extended period (such as overnight) can sometimes help reset electronic components. 2. **Check for Jammed Door Mechanism:** If the door won't close properly, it's possible that something is obstructing the door mechanism. Check for any objects or debris around the door or hinges that might be causing the issue. Gently clear any obstructions and try closing the door again. 3. **Check for Water Leaks:** Sometimes, water leaks can trigger safety mechanisms that prevent the dishwasher from operating. Look for signs of water around the base of the dishwasher and address any leaks you find. 4. **Check Child Lock Feature:** Some dishwashers have a child lock feature that can prevent the control buttons from responding. Check the user manual to see if your model has this feature and how to toggle it on or off. 5. **Inspect Door Latch:** The door latch is a crucial component for proper operation. Ensure that the latch is not damaged or misaligned. If it's not engaging properly, it can prevent the door from closing securely. 6. **Circuit Breaker:** Check the circuit breaker that supplies power to the dishwasher. If it has tripped, reset it and see if the dishwasher responds. 7. **Error Codes:** Some dishwashers display error codes when they encounter issues. Refer to the user manual for your dishwasher to interpret any error codes being displayed. 8. **Service Call:** If none of the above steps resolve the issues, it's advisable to contact Smeg's customer support or a professional appliance technician. They can diagnose and address more complex issues that require specialized knowledge and tools. Before attempting any repairs, make sure to unplug the dishwasher or turn off its power supply to ensure your safety. If you're unsure about any aspect of troubleshooting or repair, it's best to seek professional assistance.

My oven makes a huge whirring buzzing noise after 20/30 minutes of use. I replaced the cooling fan motor but that has not helped. Surely this is not normal?

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your SMEG DS96MFA7 oven where a noise occurs after some time of operation and continues even after the oven is turned off. Since you've already replaced the cooling fan and the noise persists, there are a few possibilities to consider:
  1. Heating Element: The heating element in your oven might be expanding and contracting as it heats up and cools down during operation. This can sometimes create noises, especially if the element has developed some internal damage.
  2. Cooling Fan Motor: While you've replaced the cooling fan, it's possible that the noise is coming from a different part of the fan assembly or from the fan motor itself. The noise might be due to vibrations, a misaligned part, or a problem with the motor bearings.
  3. Exhaust Fan or Circulation Fan: Some ovens have additional fans for exhaust or circulation purposes. If your oven has these fans, they might be causing the noise. Check if there are any additional fans present and inspect them for any issues.
  4. Expansion and Contraction: As the oven heats up during use and then cools down after being turned off, various components inside the oven can expand and contract. This can sometimes result in creaking or popping noises. This could include metal components, panels, or other parts.
  5. Loose or Vibrating Components: Check for any loose or vibrating components within the oven. Even a small loose panel or part can generate a significant amount of noise, especially as it vibrates against other surfaces.
  6. Gas Ignition System: If your oven uses gas, the ignition system could be causing clicking or ticking noises as it ignites and heats up.
  7. Electrical Components: Certain electrical components, such as relays or transformers, could also be causing the noise if they are malfunctioning or vibrating excessively.
Since diagnosing the exact source of the noise can be challenging, especially without being able to inspect the oven in person, I recommend the following steps:
  1. Carefully Inspect: When the noise occurs, try to pinpoint its source by listening closely and observing the oven's components. This might give you a better idea of where the noise is coming from.
  2. Contact Professional Help: If the noise persists and is affecting the functionality of the oven, it's advisable to contact a professional appliance repair technician. They have the expertise and tools to diagnose and fix the issue accurately.

SMEG model, WMI-12C7 Repeat Pausing During Wash Cycle Problem...

There are several reasons why a washing machine may pause during a wash cycle. One possible reason is an unbalanced load. If the load is not distributed evenly in the drum, the machine may pause to redistribute the load and prevent damage to the drum or other components. Another possible reason is a clogged filter or drain hose, which can cause the machine to pause as it tries to drain water from the drum. In the case of the SMEG model WMI-12C7, repeat pausing during wash cycles could be caused by a malfunctioning sensor or control board. These components are responsible for monitoring and regulating various aspects of the wash cycle, such as water level, temperature, and spin speed. If one of these components is faulty, it may cause the machine to pause or stop unexpectedly. To resolve this problem, it is recommended to first check for any obvious issues such as an unbalanced load or clogged filter. If these do not appear to be the problem, it may be necessary to call a professional repair service to diagnose and fix any issues with the sensor or control board. In addition, it is important to properly maintain and care for your washing machine to prevent future issues. This includes regularly cleaning the filter and drain hose, avoiding overloading the machine, and using only recommended detergents and settings.

Good Morning, I have a Smeg SUK91MFX and the fan oven does not heat up.

Hello Ron, If you have already replaced the thermostat unit and both heating elements, and the indicator light is coming on and the fans are running, but the oven is still not heating up, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you could try:
  1. Check the wiring connections: Ensure that all wiring connections are secure and properly connected. Loose or faulty connections can prevent the oven from heating up.
  2. Check the oven control board: The control board regulates the power to the oven elements. If it is faulty, it may prevent the elements from heating up. You can test the control board using a multimeter or by having it professionally checked and repaired or replaced.
  3. Check the thermal fuse: Some ovens have a thermal fuse that protects the oven from overheating. If the thermal fuse has blown, it can prevent the oven from heating up. You can test the thermal fuse with a multimeter and replace it if necessary.
  4. Check the temperature sensor: The temperature sensor is responsible for monitoring the temperature inside the oven. If it is faulty, it may prevent the oven from heating up. You can test the temperature sensor with a multimeter and replace it if necessary.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, it may be best to contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer for further assistance.
