Singer 1022 Sewing Machine. The thread keeps breaking on it.

Question edited for clarity. I was built before cell phones or desktop computers! Older sewing machines are more reliable that the new fancy electronic ones. Broken thread is usually caused by old rotten thread, cotton breaks down, or you may have a bad batch. Or it is caused by incorrect threading, or incorrect tension (upper or even bobbin tension). Or the machine needs cleaning, servicing and timing. Why does my self oil singer industrial 491 machine drip oil on the floor

Problem with sump or with sump screw? Or overly full? I'm currently refubishing a Singer 491. To understand what sump and sump screw are, check out the YouTube channel of becauseimcrafty for their instruction on changing the oil. This demonstrates the large oli pan of a Singer industrial machine that is similar to yours as far as the oil "pan" or "sump" goes. TItle of their video is <<Industrial Sewing Machine l Changing the OIL>>. Not sure if link allowed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIF8npj-VLk

Is a Singer 491 strong enough for leather?

Yes, it should be fine for most leather. I don't know about belt or thicker leathers though.....I would just buy some samples and give it a go. The 491 is a workhorse, good for upholstery and heavy work.

Singer 2010

If model 2010, the problem is a part metal- part plastic part attached to the bottom of the bobbin winding lever, the white tear-shaped thing with the arrow on it. If that will turn past the center of the bobbin it's broken inside. to try a do-it-yourself fix, turn upside down, remove 4 screws, including one by the plug (which must be pulled out for safety anyway) remove bottom case. looking at left end of the works, move the bobbin lever and you'll see the broken part move. The plastic part should be broken about half-way down. You can see how the part should push the white plastic bobbin winding shaft up and down when lever moved. the part can be removed by loosening the 2 tiny hexnuts holding it on the metal shaft. you'll need the smallest size allen (hex) wrench there is. NOTE where the part is at bottom of the metal shaft for when you put have to put it back on. be careful to hold the bobbin winding shaft itself in place, but it's easy to see how it goes back in if it pops out. if the break is clean (like my wife's that I just fixed this way yesterday!) you can put a drop or 2 of good crazy glue in the break, making sure lined up on the sides, then clamp in a vise (or hold firmly together with pliers) for at least 10 mins, longer better. wait at least an hour before putting back. putting back on is a little tricky but you move the bobbin lever to left (open) position, make sure it's just on the end of the shaft (shaft barely protruding) and see where the part isn't pushing the bobbin winding shaft. re-tighten with hex wrench then see if the repaired part now pushes the bobbin winding shaft up and down when you move the lever back and forth. Turn back over and move the lever without a bobbin spool- you should see shaft move up in the middle of bobbin case where it will engage the bottom of the bobbin spool where the x is.
Now if part can't be fixed it is available from auth Singer service center in you state but runs $40 or so. they'll try to tell you they have to install it because of special anti-static gloves that wont fry your motherboard on the machine's computer, but the center in Michigan finally said they would mail it to me. hope this helps! funny I just saw this after fixing our machine which hadn't been used for a long time until I decided I might as well look inside if I was going to have to buy her a new machine!!!

How to thread singer sewing machine 5810

First, raise the needle (and the thread-take up lever) with the hand wheel; always turn this wheel towards you. If the needle doesn't go up, your machine may be in bobbin winding mode. Press the hand wheel disc on the side opposite the indent. Raise the pressure foot using the lifter behind the needle and pressure foot. Now place the spool on the spool pin and add the spool pin cap. Now you work the thread from right to left and go down, up and down again. Lead the thread to the thread guide at the back of the machine and snap the thread into the guide. Bring the thread forward and with one hand bring the thread under the guide and through the slot. Bring the thread down and around the tension. Hold the spool lightly and pull up the thread to lift the spring. That will let the thread go under the thread guard. Guide the thread into the take-up lever by placing the thread over the top of the lever and sliding it up into the notch. Bring the thread down through the next two thread guides; the last one is at the needle clamp. Then thread the needle from front to back. Most Singer manuals are available here: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to the manual for the 5810 is https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/SINGER_5806_5808__5810__6620_and_8220_Sewing_Machines.pdf . See page 15 for the start of the threading steps. I hope this helps. Earlier pages in the manual cover winding and inserting the bobbin. Cindy Wells

I have a Singer Confidence 7470.

Is the top (right side) thread getting caught up below the needle plate?

Likely you need to increase tension. The elastic will tend to grab the top thread so a higher tension may be necessary.

A larger diameter needle may help.

Where can I get the singer quikfix manual

Hello Jodi and anyone else who needs this question answered! I've tried looking for the Singer QuikFix's manual at least twice now, spending countless hours on it. I finally found it! After trying many ideas both on and off the Singer website (https://www.singer.com/) I decided to try their support page (https://www.singer.com/support). After searching "quik" on it, I got this page which finally has the answer! (https://www.singer.com/search/support?title=quik) After hours searching, here is the manual for the Singer QuikFix Mending Machine, https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/1261_pixie_quikfix.pdf Additionally, in case for whatever reason that link/page doesn't work anymore, here is the same exact pdf, uploaded to Google Drive, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1d-930F8a-CVe9bLLKi0w69wdkMTwOfec/view?usp=sharing

I have a Singer Fashion Plate Model 237. When you are sewing, no stitches. I've check the tension it's threaded correctly. Does not show a stitch, have no idea on what to check

Is the foot resting on your fabric and not hovering above it? Do you have the bobbin threaded? It's the fabric too soft? These things can effect the stitch and how it holds.
