You can't--something is stopping the wheel from turning, and until you find out what is stopping it, your machine will be locked up. Take a look below the bobbin case, and you'll see a ***** holding a little door. It allows you to clean and see on the other side of the bobbin basket. Chances are, there's something like a broken off needle stopping the gear that turns the hook. It can also be caused by threads wrapped around the tension disks, or around the inside of the hand wheel itself. The hand wheel can be removed by removing the cap in the center--it is hiding a ***** that holds the wheel.

Hi, On some of the singer touch an sew machines the feed dog has little rubber pads instead of metal teeth. With age the pads come off. This is sometime caused by you using a new or different brand of thread that has a weaker tensile strength, (Snaps with less force), or the tension on the spool might need adjusting.

I have the same problem...this is a work around, not a fix. You need a small flat-head screwdriver. 1. Remove the clear bobbin cover. 2. Make sure the feed dog switch is in the DOWN position. 3. Slide the screwdriver under the feeddogs from inside the bobbin area & lift the feed dogs. 4. While holding the feed dogs in the up position, return the feed dog knob to the up position. You have to do this every time you put the feed dogs down...bummer, but I can find no broken part or adjustment that corrects this. If it's inside the machine body, I don't mess with it... I did take off the bottom plate in the feed dog area..one screw holds it.... there is nothing there to indicate a problem.

Make sure your needle is fully seated and correctly inserted into your needle bar. Then make sure your needle is at it's lowest point before trying to use the threader.

The Singer Quantum XL1 has a needle bar positioning spring. It's actually a J shaped bar with a rubber stopper at one end and a hole for the 1 screw on the other end.When it breaks the rubber partly off or falls off completely the machine shows signs.The thread can jam or, The needle bar extends too far left or right.Also your needle may stop going up and down. It works for regular stitches if you pull the needle bar back down with your hand. For a while anyway.Sometimes regular stitches work. But you can't sew the large designs like bear, bunny, lamb, duck. Until you replace it. There is only 1 screw, needle bar tops at the rubber stopper of the J. Or the metal J shape end looks like a c if rubber is missing. So the rubber slips onSee image.I've only found the entire needle bar positioning spring. If the material has gotten jammed before. look at your needle plate where the needle goes in. Has it been damaged? is there a gap, hole, slice, small piece missing?
