What is the voltage of the Power Cord? Lost the power cord.
There should be a sticker or a stamp of the input and output voltage right next to the plug in. If it is the one coming from the wall it is a 120v and you just need to match the ends. If it is a smaller round one it is going to be 6 to 18 volts.

Does it need to charge first? Before I can access it?
external hard drives get their power mostly from the usb connection
you will however need to download a driver after you plug the usb lead into the computer
it is even possible that when you connect the usb up you will get a balloon in the bottom right of the task bar referring to looking for a driver for installed hard drive
Where can I download the drivers for Windows?
Drivers are for equipment, (hardware), in or connected to your computer, ie printer, network card, usb, video card etc. Windows is pretty good at finding the drivers for them automatically but if it fails you need to go to the manufacturers web site and download the appropriate driver. Or, if the hardware came with a disk insert the disk and run the install program which should automatically install the driver.
Drivers for Windows are supplied with with the operating system that you purchase from Microsoft or your local supplier.
