If the lamp and mirror assembly moves on a rod, it needs to be taken out, cleaned and regreased. Make absolutely sure that the travel lock is loose. Otherwise, your scan motor may be out or there is something else blocking the assembly from moving, an obstruction or a hung ribbon cable.

Check again. Some small piece(s) may still be there. Turn off the printer to help it forget its previous status.
