The battery is not charging.

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? Ifnot then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

AFTER SWITCHING ON, SCREEN STAYS

Hi there,

When starting your PC, the following error message is displayed:

CMOS wrong
CMOS MEMORY size WRONG
CMOS Checksum Bad
CMOS checksum error defaults loaded
Warning! CPU has been changed please re-enter cpu settings in the cmos setup and remember to save before quit!
You are prompted to:

Press F1 to resume
Press F2 to load default values and continue

This is due to the fact that the CMOS, which contain data related to the BIOS, has been reinitialized and that your PC has been reset to factory settings.

Solutions:

Reinitializing the BIOS
  • Change BIOS battery
    • If the problem persist this may be due to the fact that the battery powering the CMOS (when the computer is shut down allows the CMOS to store information), is depleted.
    • The CMOS battery is a small pin found on the mother board, you can refer to the manual provided with your motherboard to change it or have the nearby computer technician change it for you if you don't want to risk any damage.
    • More information with: Replacing the battery of your motherboard (CMOS battery)
Post back if it is not working we will be happy to help you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!!

Can i repair my sharp pc-a100

It depends on the issue- if it is a component such as memory, hard drive, or sometimes optical drives- you can replace them since those components are standardized- the issues with repairing a laptop when the problem is in the motherboard or display- manufacturers do not use standard motherboards or lcd connectors. Some companies do carry backlog parts for older systems- but it is a matter of whether or not the cost of repair is worth keeping the system- esp. since a decent netbook can be purchased for about 300- and a decent line laptop for about 500. Screen has gone out, have one that works, how much

Quite a lot of work, actually...and tedious.

If you have a similar machine with a screen that works, you may be better off just switching the hard drive to that machine.

Hope that's helpful.

How to find a battery

The p/n is printed on the battery label. Just search that part on ebay or google, you'll probably get a lot of results. You could also send an email to sharp if you don't have the original battery to obtain the P/N

Hello, good afternoon if you can help me please

1) SeanTech gave a solution for this back on January the 8th, 2009, to a hardik_1985.
Nice that you remembered him if this is you.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t1509321-misplaced_recovery

2) I agree with your wanting to perform a complete reinstall. Programs like Tune Up 2010 are a bunch of junk anyway.
They're supposedly designed to help the user save steps, but are there just to grab your money, in reality.
You can do the same things by yourself without the program/s.

3) Your start-up configuration needs to be CDROM, Hard Disk Drive, then Floppy Disk Drive.
This will force the computer to boot from the disk in the optical drive. (CDROM)

Go into BIOS Setup, and change it.

After you have moved CDROM to the top of the list in Boot Order, (Or Boot Configuration), make SURE you save changes, or it will be like you have done Nothing at all.

Press the F10 key to save changes, then highlight Yes, or Y, and press the Enter key.

Put O/S disk in your optical drive tray. Restart the computer.

I need a 12.1" XGA LCD display where can i find

Do a google search for "12.1 xga lcd". There are a lot of vendors at various prices. Tough part is usually the uninstall/reinstall. Good Luck.
If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.

HOw do you remove the HDD

to put it in easy terms all computers are constructed in a module way using plug-in connectors for each pheripheral item,or ribbon cable etc.
When it comes to laptops this is the case also but bear in mind space is limited so things have to be compact and fit flush etc,
get yourself a fine screwdriver set and see if indeed your pc is user-serviceable
