Seiko chronograph alarm

Solution #3 (Posted by Guest on 5 Mar 08) is spot on. Quick and easy method to reset the chrono hands (it was not in my Seiko manual).
Interestingly, this can also be used to set the chrono ahead (or behind--with a little math) for offset timing measurements.

Hello. I have a Seiko 7t62 ojpo chronograph. The small second hand will run for about 20 minutes then stops. As a result, the main minute and hour hands stop working. Everything else works. Any ideas?

You have a fairly premium watch and some versions are more premium than others. Your watch clearly needs attention and that should be entrusted to a Seiko dealer or to the manufacturer. Once the case has been opened the sealing must be retested to ensure it meets specification. If this isn't done as part of the repair or service or battery fitting there is little point in having a watch with such a high specification.

S149 will not start

You may need to reset it. Unfortunately, this can not be done without taking the unit apart. I fixed ours yesterday when the screen was blank, by replacing the internal battery. Part of that process is resetting the clock. This might solve your problem and so, I have included my full instructions for replacing the battery. You will need a small phillips screw driver, a paperclip and a new battery. ( a CR2032 works fine and can be bought anywhere) Keep in mind, you will be handling some electronics, so keeping static discharges to a minimum is a good idea. *Place the unit face down on a table. *Remove the battery cover and batteries. *Using tape, cover the two switch sliders located on the sides of the unit so they stay in place when you remove the back. *Remove the three screws inside the battery bay and the four longer screws on the main body. *Before you gently seperate the back from the front, take note of the two battery connections that are on the outer edge of the battery box and are opposite of the strap brackets. These will need to be coaxed through the plastic as you pull the back off. You will also need to manipulate/open the paper roll cover. *Remove the back cover. *The top circuit board and printer are connected to the lower circuit board and front cover by a white ribbon cable and wires to a switch. Gently lay the top circuit board and printer to the side, being careful not to unlpug the cables. *Locate the battery, it is standing on edge. Note the orientation. *Straighten the paperclip and make a hook so you can remove the battery. *Install the new battery, taking care to not bend the connectors. *A label on the inside of the back cover details the reset procedure. Locate the AC and + on the lower circuit board. *Use the paperclip to make an electrical connection between those two points. *Reassemble the unit in reverse fashion. *Pay attention to the switches on the top circuit board and the slots they fit into. These are the black switch sliders that were taped to the side. *The printer assembly should set into place. *Reinstall the back cover, coaxing the battery connections through their respective holes. I hope this solves your problem.
