Get someone who works with electrics regularly to test the output on the cables with a voltmeter or a multimeter set to volts. They will be able to tell you which is which. Don't use the charger until you've found out which is which as this could do serious damage to the vehicle or the charger.

EVEN CARS NEW, ALTERNATORS DO THIS TRICK./ USE A VOLT METER, AND CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE FIRST, IF AT 10V A CELL IS OPEN OR SHORTED,AND BOTH ARE BAD NEWS,. EOL OF BATTERY. REPEAT THE TEST WITH BATTERY LUGS PULLED. USE A VOLT METER. OLD RELIC CHARGES DID NOT DO THIS, IT WORKS NO MATTER WHAT AND ON SOME A BAD BATTERY OVERHEATED FAST. BUT 4AMPS IS (TINY)
