Sanyo xacti digital camcorder screen not working when opened out
Hi!
It's most likely a damaged LCD cable which goes through the hinge - happens to many camcorders. You will have to contact your local Sanyo service center. I replace these cables for Sony camcorders every day.
Sorry for the bad news, but hope this helps.

Video stopy recording
I guess there's only so much room for videos on the internal memory... I did a full format, problem solved!

Settings not saved
It is by design. I guess Sanyo cut corners in some places and all of the Xacti cameras AFAIK have that problem, they DO NOT save custom settings. so you have to redo your settings every time to turn it on
LCD Screen Stays Black
Had the same problem. It nearly drove me mad, however, the fix seems quite simple. The screen in playback mode seemed to be fine but if I swithed to record or photo mode I just got a black screen. I could see some pixel movement so I figured the screen was okay and that the iris was the problem.
Anyway, to fix it I simply gave a few sharp taps on the camera body near the lens. This unstuck the iris and I was greeted with a clear image in the LCD viewfinder. The camera now works fine.
By the way, this seems to be a fairly common problem with a lot of the different models and not just limited to this one.
Hope this helps.

I'm from USA and we have 1 year warranty for these products. The problem you are encountering is on the main circuit board. This model has one board controlling most of the functions and our techs were not successful repairing it. Because of compact design and machine mounted parts it is recomended for replacement. Sanyo should replace it under manufacturer's warranty if it has been only few months. Sorry we couldn't give you better news. good luck -James
Mp4 player
You can try Nero 8 (www.nero.com) which has a cool player (Nero Showtime) and a user friendly transcoding/DVD authoring tool (Nero Vision) to offer. You may also consider Videolan VLC (www.videolan.org) which is free, open source, less user-friendly but it supports batch file conversion -- a realloy cool features when you have a dozen+ video files to convert.
USB device unknown
Make sure you are connecting directly to the computer's USB port, not through a hub. Try disconnecting other USB devices before plugging in the camera. Check the manufacturer's website for updaded drivers: if all else fails, a reinstall of the camera's drivers may be in order.
