E1 is a general error. It means you can't press those buttons in that order. Press clear button to clear the error. Then enter any correct key sequence to continue

It just means you haven't logged on to the machine so it doesn't have an operator (clerk) signed in to make sales. You need to enter your secret PIN number and press the clerk button (CLK#). This is a very old model that I haven't seen before. The old ones use codes to change the rate. You enter the code from the manual for tax rate programming and enter the new rate. Usually caused by corrupt data in your program. If the battery has not been replaced on time, it is very common.

It is most likely that the battery was not replaced on time and it could not back up the memory when you unplugged it. The battery should be changed every 4 years or so. You have probably lost all programming. If it is showing an error number or message, check your manual

To clear the error code do the following: Turn key to P mode Turn power switch off Hold Subtotal key down Turn power switch back on (while holding the subtotal key) Wait for print out Turn your key back to Reg position. After you do this it will "Close" the register so you will have to log back on.

I haven't seen a setting for language on that model so a dealer would probably need to load a ROM file for a different language. It should have the correct language from factory for that destination country.
