I am a technician-informatic. I have repaired about 40 Lcd Samsung monitors with thees problems - not optimal resolution mode and dark screen problem. So i decided to made manual how to repair lcd samsung monitors.The repair process is very simple 10-30min. does not need a lot of experience in electronics and expensive instruments.

If you have a "universal" remote, it will scan for the number, or it could be listed in the manual that came with the remote. If it doesn't list Samsung monitors, try Samsung TV's. If you have the nanual for your monitor, it will be in there, too. Also, check Samsung's own site to download the proper manual and/or the codes. In the meantime, try these 2-digit codes from the manual for my Samsung Blueray system, assuming of course, your monitor uses 2-digits -- which does seem to be a standard convention. I also suspect manufactures only have a certain block of codes they use for all their remotes. 00, 15, 16, 17, 40, 43, 46, 47, 48, 49, 59, 60, or 98

Had same problem, Monitor first turn on, backlight off after couple of minutes, off/on backlight off after few seconds.Solution cut J503.Found voltage OVPT (IC501,7) quite low (1.6V) this is the reference value for VSEN the over voltage value. By cutting J503, OVPT becomes 4.5 volt but is not depending anymore on the current through the lamps. Instead of the link J503 I solder 2x 1N4148 diodes which makes the OVPT not go below 2,8 volt. (diodes in series, cathode points to nearest board edge)

I have the very same problem and I have no knowledge of the backlights of LCD panels. Is there any way to fix this yourself?

Good morning! Please review/check the set-up settings of your samsung flatscreen, best to refer it to the operations manual of the monitor which should be included when you bought it. best regards.

Press menu button for more than 10 sec. Afterwards OSD menu should be unlocked.

Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned it on and the screen blacked out or stopped working, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so. Hope this help!! If monitor was working 2 days prior, it should still be working, unless the "switch mode power-supply" has detected a "fault condition" and is in or always going into emergency shut down mode trying to save itself from having a catastrophic event occur!! e.g. sparks, smoke, fire. Better check your warranty!!! Or you could send it to me so I can take a shot at repairing it for about $6 in parts. I need a new wide screen general purpose monitor. Have you seen any DIY repair videos at YOUTUBE!! After you do some research at YOUTUBE, come back here and let us tech's know what your plan is. 12fixlouie

thanks but The monitor was checked, the technician told me that he tryed to get the video card of the monitor Samsung 216 BW but they don't know were buy a part like this to replace it the broken.
If you can please, let me know where I can buy parts of Samsung monitor 216 BW.

You can try lowering the refresh rate to a lower value. Ex. from 100Hz to 60Hz
