The S5 is "waterproof", but only up to a certain depth for a limited amount of time, and the ports have to be properly covered. Soup would certainly leave a film of residue on anything, so if the usb port wasnt covered you may have gotten something in there. But the S5 is relatively old. You can get one on ebay pretty cheap, or upgrade. Doesnt have to be the latest model.
