On this type of unit, air is sucked in at the sides and blown out of the top where the fan is. Whether is spins clockwise or anticlockwise is irrelevant, the direction of airflow is important. Air has to blow OUT through the top. You need to clean the pilot its blocked when it burns yellow .No heat in it.

Your fitter didn't fix the original issue it would seem. That is the problem with fitters, they cannot repair things.

The variable speed DC motors you describe do use less power but cost 14 times more too, not worth it especially with you motor running!

You can get an aftermarket replacement as long as the ratings are the same. I keep a spare for my unit and its saved me several times over the years.
As to your question, it looks like the part number is 43-23204-04. Looks like several options for those specs on Amazon.

Open the main breaker for 5 minutes and see if the unit resets. Momentary power fluctuations can cause odd behavior, especially in older units. This could also have been the final jolt that killed a failing capacitor.

First off how do you know the motor is bad? Have you checked for voltage, the capacitor, the relay? The motor itself will have a data plate telling you horsepower/voltage/rpm/shaft size.
