Our engine bilge pump is

Hi, if you can switch on the pump, it's OK. Usually, the pump needs the helm switch on AND the float up. Does the pump not shut off when you push the float down? That would be normal operation, unless the helm switch has both automatic and manual settings.

Water is draining from pool

How long is the hose the pump is connected to?
What is the inside diameter?
With no hose, the pump gives 1800 gph, 30 gpm
with lots of small hose, that could drop to 5 gpm.
Ensure no debris in inlet or hose.

I have a 16 ft

Sounds like the pump is cooked, probably need a new one. Also check the switch on the dash, sounds like it might have failed leading to over running the pump dry, overheating the motor causing a short in the motor somewhere. Boat electrics need regular maintenance, looking behind the panel with some switch cleaner in your hand is a good idea.

Pump ha quit working

rule h53st-24

What we got here is a motor issue, The motor in this unit has gone out on you. So you have some options witch was given you over the phone.

www.drillspot.com has affordable replacements also rulepumps.com as well. You could even try ebay to get a used pump if that serves you better.

A lot of things can cause a pump to fail

1. Overheat, if there is not water being pumped and the pump is left on
2. Motor failure can happen if you have a short or surge on the main line.
3. Leafs or dirt got jammed in the pump.

4. would be common wear on the pump itself.

Thanks for you call we do hope your satisfied with our services.

Pump won't stop running

It has an inbuilt float switch that may be sticking. Pull it out and tap it this may fix it. If not it will have to be replaced. Regards Phil

I tried my Rule 1800 cover pump to get the spring

I assume the device being tripped is a GFCI -- the pump has a short to ground. Most practical solution is to replace the pump. Don't try to run it from an un-protected outlet (no GFCI) -- it's dangerous.
