Change the thermocouple. That is the safety device that sits in the flame and allows the gas to go to the main burner when turned on. It is the classic symptoms of a failed thermocouple. Details.......does the furnace function normally otherwise? Might just be a stuck fan switch. Make sure the thermostat hasn't been set on Fan ON setting or summer air circ. on older furnaces. Find the fan switch and tap it and see if fan quits. If it does,fan switch is bad.probably. Always make sure your air circ. filter(return air to furnace) is replaced every 3 mo. or so,too. don-ohio (:^)
