I have an rdv 1060 which will not play dvd's cd's

Unfortunately, the DVD laser diode is probably faulty. a separate laser diode is used for reading CDs so these still work. The laser unit will require replacing.

Rotel RTC-850 Preamp left channel

Before we throw in the towel, turn it off and exercise every control a lot of times throughout its range, particularly the Tape Selectors. Sometimes oxides will develop on seldom used controls and their 'normally closed' contacts will not pass a signal.

Cd player does not recognise

The "no disc" message is a generic one indicating that the disc couldd not be read. This can be caused by a dirty lens (most common) or faulty optics. If you can gain access to the optics, try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to resolve the problem, then the optics probably have failed and need to be replaced.

Power amp r b

Check the headphone socket if it cuts out the speakers (normal use) when you plug the headphones in. If it doesn't and you have a switch to switch off the speakers when listening to headphones, check the switch. It may be physical damage or dirt causing the problem, or even loose soldering on the headphone socket. But the fact that headphones work shows the main amp is working. Also make certain the speakers are connected properly.

Hi i have a Rotel

Try fixing your remote controller, because sometimes when we neglected to replace our remote batteries for a while, it will leak and it will build up on the contacts of the remote pad.

Take off the battery, open the back of your remote, lift the circuit board, clean the green painted part with cotton balls slightly damp with rubbing alcohol as well as the black thingy behind your remote pad, let it dry put it back together, replace with a new battery and try if it works.

Good luck

No sound to remote speakers in dining & deck areas.

Incoming from WHAT? Ampifiers accept inputs via RCA connections and send amplified audio to the speakers via the + and - OUTPUT terminals.

I'm guessing your colored wires are from your speakers and that there is a piece of this puzzle we do not see - how the speakers on the deck and in the dining area are wired.

You say, "was working ok previously"... previous to WHAT? Something changed.

You can probably troubleshoot and resolve this yourself.

Set the amp to a medium output level.

If the wires are simply leading to either or both pairs of speakers you could select any two of them and connect them to one side of the amp. Only a pair going to the same speaker(s) will produce sound. Once you identify one pair, the other pair probably goes to the other speakers. Connect them to the other channel output.

The last piece would be to establish correct phasing between the speakers. Bass response will suffer if they're not IN-phase. Play something with substantial bass. Listen closely, then reverse the wires on one side only. Test again. If it IMPROVES you have it right. If it losses bass, put the wires back the way they were.

Hi, I have a Rotel 1050 receiver that I am trying

I think the best solution is to remove the jumpers from the Pre Out - Mon In connectors, insert a pair of RCA Y-adapters and plug one end back to the Mon In while the other ends feed the NAD (Page 15 of the manual available at Retrevo.com) . The Rotel's volume and other controls will still be in charge of the NAD.

The manual fails to mention looping the Pre Out back to the Mon In to enable the Rotel's amp to still participate in the program material.

Broken stylus arm is it still possible to get

The stylus should not be a problem. Without knowing the make and model of the turntable, however, there is no way to respond about hte arm. You have listed this question under the Rotel receiver category, can you pelase supply the ,ake and model of the turntable? Also, supply any numbers that appear on the current stylus so I can verify that either the exact one or a similar substitute is available.

Thanks,
Dan

I have a problem with my RA-9808X.

All I can say to you is look around where the mains goes in very carefully. Fuses are sometimes hidden or in a case or cover of some kind. Sometimes amps use fuseable resistors. If the PC board is marked up look for resistors with "RF" or different indication to a normal resistor. Otherwise fuses will have "f" markings on the board. Remember the power supply part might be enclosed in a metal case with holes in it, so might be hard to spot fuses.

Volume dial doesn't work well anymore - when

Some manufacturers allow you to set a max volume limit so you don't blow your ears off.  Check the users manual to see how to turn it off.
Also, have tech support install a new potentiometer for you.

I don't believe that Rotel service manuals are available outside of authorized service centers. Can you provide us with the problem that you have? Perhaps we can guide you through the repair.

Thanks,

Need manual for ra 840bx4 & wattage output when remote speakers?

Lets try the simple stuff first. This whole problem could be caused by a dirty switch contact. Pick up some electronics cleaner from a local electronics shop and spray the switch (from the inside of the unit). Work the switch on/off a number of times then respray one more time. That should clean out any dirt that is there. Try the unit again and hopefully the problem is resolved. If not, then the switch itself may need to be replaced. When you get the cleaner, get one that contains a lubricant as well. This will help to prevent the problem from coming back again.

Right speaker jack not working

Why would it die from being in storage? Oxide or corrosion on contacts, volume potentiometer, Tape Monitor or other switch contacts.

Try manipulating all controls and switches throughout their ranges many times and see what happens.

Check the heaphone jack. If it works so does the right amplifier. While you're at it, insert the headphone jack multiple times to cycle its contacts, too.

Rotel RX-800

I have an RX 600 - which has just gone 'phut' - which is how I came today to find this website ! I once had your speaker problem but eventually tracked it down to a bad connection of the speaker cable into the rear of the Receiver. Plastic sheathing and dust was partly in the way. Strip off a bit more plastic to expose fresh bright wire, and remake secure tug-proof connection before you try anything else. Oh, and while you doing it, do the others as well !
