I CAN'T FIND A SWITCH FOR MY FAN IT HAS 4 WIRES GOING TO THE OLD SWITCH

Ceiling fan switch is hard to find the correct one. I've wired direct to high speed and add a remote control or use a rotary contact light switch and omit one of the speeds.

Rotary switch black red and blue wires replacing old switch with black, red and brown. I can't remember the wire sequence. What's hot what's not. For a old pole lamp with 3 bulbs

Without seeing the switch it is difficult to say for sure. My best guess would be black is the hot lead and red and brown/ blue are the switch leads. This is a best guess only. Hope this helps. Bob

What wires goes on Load and Line. on a clipsal rotary light dimmer

In normal house wiring, 110 vac, the black lead is considered the "hot" or line lead and the white one as the neutral. When wiring to a variable resistor, the variable lead normally goes to the load so the voltage can be changed and the other lead to the "line."

Actual wiring connection of 4 way switch

One or more 4-way switch(es) must be installed with (2) 3-way switches. The 4-way switch(es) must be wired between the (2) 3-ways switches. I have to replace trimatron push on/off Dimmer.

If the new one has black, red and green, then it must not be a 3-way. Green is universally the ground and the black and green would be the in and the out (either way) on a 2-way switch. You are one lead short! Good luck, Al K

Replacing a rotary on-off switch

Hi,

Assuming that both switches are wired correctly, since you replaced the switch and that was not the problem, then you have something not right with the wiring in farther from the switch. You will have to take the mirror apart and look at the wiring inside. The power enters through the black wire and returns through the white wire. The switch breaks the incoming power (black line) so, if the power is continous, then there must be a short somewhere in the circuit so that the power continues.

Check the wires and insulation inside the mirror for any nicks, loose wires, etc. Check the wiring from bulb to bulb also.

If this is an inwall mirror, ALWAYS turn your power off at the breaker before you do any wiring. If not, unplug first. If it's a freestanding mirror and not too expensive, I'd replace the mirror.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Handie Andie

It's an old eagle single pole dimmer switch I'm

My suspicion is that instead of connecting to the two screw terminals, you should connect one of your house wires to the black wire - and the other house wire to one of those screw terminals.
